FE Technical Forum / Low manifoild vacum reading

Hi guys

Anyone inn here have some experience with manifoild vacum ?
This is not a FE, but i assume the technical would be the same.
I have been helping my father putting his 59 biscayne together. I have som trouble with engine inn this car too get it running okay. This is a stock 283, but it sounds like it have a lot of cam inn it. I am reading 5HG manifoild vacum ported side on the carb. I have also conected straight too the manifoild and still gets the same reading. I was thinking a vacum leak, so i went over with some brake clean around the intake manifoild when the car was running and did not notice any RPM inncrease. I changed the inntake gasket thinking it maybe had a leak bottom of the head. Did not help either. Compression checks out ok. Leak down tests checks out ok. Timing checks out okay. Disconected all vacum lines that can cause leak. I am thinking maybe there is something wrong with the camshaft at this point and are considering taking the engine out again. My Yblock is reading over 15 HG and are running great. Any Tips/Tricks/Experience ore advice on what to do here ? Camshaft next ? Flattet ore wrong timed ? Oh, one more thing. The car drops a lot inn RPM when putting it inn drive. Have tried to inncrease the idle, but it does not help. And, when give it a little trottle inn drive it tends to surge a little before it respond. Sometimes it dies. At one point the car was chasing RPM at idle. This car makes me sad :'(

Hello everyone. My 55 Ford fairlane crown need a new wiring harness. The whole system need to be replaced. 6V - 12V conversion as well. So, what wiring systemes do you preffer ? Some company i have been looking at: EZ wiring, rebel wiring, American autowiring, painless ? Ore maybe do it wire by wire. It does not need to look stock, i just want something easy and something that work. Some ekstra circuit to wire music player etc inn the future would also be nice.  :)

Hi.

This problem seems like it have followed mee on severeal car, and cant figured it out. start the car when cold, and it runs great. Starting when hot, and the car have been turned off about 10-15 min, it sounds like it missfire and then it will slowly start to run cleaner and perfect again. Timing is ok. Maybe a carb issue ?

Okay. So i am planing a US trip Next summer and Are considering this trip. I Will be there 1 - 2 weeks. Google maps says 1 day and 16 hours. Have anyone done this trip ?

Hi. What could causing the engine to burn oil on passenger side after intake swap ? I have teared it appart again, and the intake gasket seems fine. I got the print o seal gasket, have readed that i should stayed away from those gaskets. I am trying to attach a photo of the head from the passenger side, you could see that sylinder number two is flooded with oil, same on the intake port. 1,3 and 4 have also oil inn the ports, but not that much. It lookls like it have just poored oil down the valves. Also, i was able to take a test drive before disamble intake and head again. When accelerate, i hear a sound from right side of the engine, like a vakum leak. The car have been missfiring badly, have been fooling around with coils and carb, but guess i have the problem around here some place =)

So. I have done som work to my stock 352 inn my galaxie. That innclude performer 390 intake (Got it sheap, and the engine is stock so did not mind buying the performer rpm), 600 quick fuel v/s, AND msd ready run distrubator without ignition controll box. I bought a MSD Blaster 2 coil along with the dist. But the car was missfiring. Switched back to the stock coil and then it worked perfectly. What the hell. Since the oil filled coils should be mounted vertical, i tought maybe this was the problem. So i bought the high vibration blaster coil that can be mountet inn any position, but it still missfire. put back the stock coil again to be shure, and it works perfectly. So, i am a little confused now. Any advise on this one ?

Hi. Wondering how the marked is for 428 cj blocks out there ?I have a block that i am considering to sell. My game plan was to build a stroker out of it and put it in my 65 gal. Well, with kid, house buying, another ford that needs money, some chevys that need money, a country that rising the gasoline prices to heaven, i think i will just be happy with my 352 :) have searched ebay and the web but cant find anything to compare to. I see that only the snorkel kit cost big money. This block have stock bores. And the maschine shop said that two of sylinders in the middle have bushings. I guess that will be number 3 and 7. The block are cleaned and paintet blue and the sylinders are honed. New cam bearing. Any idea of price range ?

Hi guys.

I have finally desided to order parts for my 428 cj block. I am looking for som advise since this is my first "Performence" build. I hoping to get 500-700Hp out off it. Now, i am about to order a stroker kit. I was thinking about the scat 462 cid kit with cast crank and flat pistons. The car would be a street car, but i am not afraid that it will slide over to street/drag. I guess we are looking at 11.4-11.7 comp ratio if i go with heads that have 72 ore 76cc ? Maybe i should select dish pistons and get a lower ratio ? But from here, i am not shure what parts to go with. (Heads,intake and cam selection). Oh,inn norway, we have 98 pump gas =)

Hi. Are the 427 from genesis and pounds still available ? I tried too send ponds a Pricelist request but the Mail did not came true. And at survival motorsport it is also poorly with info i think. Some pages will not Even load at survival motorsport. I will be grateful on any info regarding prices and available around these blocks =)

Hello.

I have now decided that i want to keep my 352 in my car and upgrade it to get a more (aggressive sound). Need advise from you guys of what to do with cam heads intake and etc. The last owner rebuilded the engine. Everything stock, bored 0.30 polished crank grinded rods. The 65 galaxie is in future gonna be painted white with 28 fred lorenzen. My goal is to make the 352 look like a modified engine from the sixties and sound closely to a nascar since its gonna be a 28 fred lorenzen. And the people are gonna scratch their heads when they see the galaxie roll upp with BIG 352 C.I.D letters on the hood :)

Hi guys.

Great forum you have her. I am new her and thought i should share some pictures off my Fe powered galaxie, And i am sorry if my spelling is getting wrong, i am from norway :) Well, i bought a 1965 galaxie about a month ago. The car have a history in the family . My brother owned this car when i was around 7 years old (22 years now). So this is the car i spent some off my child hood inn. After some phone calls i got in contact with the current owner off the car. It turns out that the car was for sale because the owner had cancer. Pretty sad. So i hit the road with my brother and bought back the old galaxie. The car is a 1965 Galaxie 500 XL with a 352 Fe. Its in the same shape when my brother owned. The only change is the paint that have gone from blue to Green with silver roof. I am thinking off building a copy off 28 fred lorenzen galaxie. Maybe a 390 crank in it ? Need some help and tech from you guys later on with that project. Enjoy the pictures if i manage to upload them.
