Took them apart, cleaned off all surface rust then sprayed a satin clear on them
Replaced king pins & bushings.

I'm always amazed at how quickly you get work done.

I was doing ok until now! Had 3 FE blocks at a local machine shop for some very basic work. Lets just say all 3 blocks are ruined beyond repair! Have never seen such incompetence in my lifetime. These were the last 3 blocks I had left too.

Shop mixed up the main bearing caps then attempted the align hone. Lets just say .009" out on caps at parting line!

The middle thrust bearing in cap will spin around like a "bearing" absolutely all the crush is GONE! AND they had told me a couple weeks and its now 6 months later and I have NOTHING but time and $ wasted.

one of the rods and far from the worst. Did not check all but one if nut was just snugged there was a .088 gap on opposite side. Yes, 88 thou not 8.8.  Mains were angle cut the same way. If rod caps or main caps were put on a flat surface they would rock in both directions.

Supposed to be reconditioned with ARP bolts. They had cranked nuts so tight there were more than one stud with stripped threads and all were way way over torqued. Total joke.

Truck has been down going on 6 months. Got tired of waiting so had opportunity to buy a
Late model Crate Engine instead of the FE

450/510 version for less than cost of just a decent FE

Total bummer really.

Looks like the end of this thread

fter 2 yrs of messing around trying to gather pieces for another 410 I decided to go the very basic route of .020 390 with good machine work and then drop it in the ‘66 F100 clone of my dads truck.

For something different going to mess with MPG and very low rpm build. Idle to 4000 rpm.
Zero deck, 9.0 comp, hone with deck plates, square deck etc. just got block, heads, balanced assy back from machine shop on Saturday.

Orange White truck that had 482 now has Raptor Crate Engine & 10 spd. It will be long distance cruiser.

Custom pistons too so I can get good ring pack.

Edit Add: For some reason would not allow photo's will try later.

thought some may like to see a couple of my latest purchases. Tripped over them both. Ramp Truck and Camper in mind for them.

This truck is beyond rare and the only 1966 N series crew cab known to exist. This one is a N700 330 2v, 5 spd with a 2 spd diff
