Dyno guys
« on: June 03, 2018, 06:30:07 PM »
People ask how much HP my new 390 have and i say i realy dont know.
What do you dyno guys think
390 +.060 0 decked 10.5/1 ratio,flat top pistons, stock crank,rods, C4 G heads with a "streetport job" mostly
worked on shortside radius, CJ Valves,Ported Streetmaster, 800 DP Comp 282S ,shorty castiron headers
Duraspark with MSD 6 AL.
What HP and torque when working like it should. My guess just under 400/400
what would i gain with say a 294S cam like i ordered but i got a 282s

I'll let the dyno guys/engine builders make the educated hp guesses, but I will say this:  That sounds like a great combination as long as you have enough octane to run an aggressive ignition curve.

I would be disappointed if that combination wasn't well into the 400's.

I dynoed a similar 390 combo a couple years back with a smaller cam, made 400 HP and 445 lb-ft.  My guess on yours would be 415 HP, 455 lb-ft.  I wouldn't go up to the 294S cam, that 282S is a really good match for your combination, in my opinion...

So 400+ hp and 400 ++tq  you guys say. And no cam change
Would i gain anything with a performer rpm?  I'm thinking heavy car and dualplane intake
I definitely need a better exhaust just a dual 2inch i installed two Mercedes Diesel mufflers
on to pass tec inspection. but  its ooo sooo quiet  ;D
Thinking about a AOD trans cutting of the bellhousing and machine a C.O.M bellhousing to fit
must be possible or just reinstall the stock T10
and build a AOD for the stroker engine

At that power level I think you would see little or no improvement with the Performer RPM.
