cvr water pump leaking
« on: July 18, 2015, 08:01:04 PM »
i installed the cvr water pump with jays adapters and they fit awesome.  thanks jay.  the problem I am having is that I pressurized the system to 14 lbs with the stant pressure kit and I am losing pressure,  so not getting discouraged I put a vacuum on the system of 23 lbs and is leaking back also.  so 1 more time I pressurized it and got out the soap bottle and the pump motor gasket that bolts to the front of the main housing makes bubbles all the way around, so im not quite mad yet but I am wondering if I fill the system with coolant if that will make the seal swell and end the leaks?   any thoughts anyone? and or anybody else experience this?

I haven't seen that problem on any of mine, but I've only had 3 of them on running engines.  I looked at one of mine and it kind of looks like just a paper gasket in there.  Did you try tightening the four bolts?  If they are tight already, next step could be to take the bolts out and see if the pump comes apart.  I did that with one of mine that I have sitting here, but with the bolts out it would not separate at the gasket, and looking down the holes for the four bolts, I can see a bunch of clear silicone sealer in there.  If they didn't put the sealer on yours, maybe it will come apart and you can just put your own sealer in there.  Otherwise, I would give them a call and ask what to do.

Sorry to hear about this; its the first time I've heard of a problem with those pumps...

I'd do that too; its a warranty issue, so they should cover the cost.  Let us know how they respond on this - Jay

I had to email cvr and they replied 2 days later and they just cant believe its leaking. they said that the leak is probably coming from the 4 bolts that bolt the pump to the main body.  I replied by saying that they are tite and its 3 days now and I am still waiting for a response.  strike one. to them.

Email them a picture or a short video of the leak bubbling.  That ought to get a reaction...

Sounds good, that pump will get back to CVR that way, and they will see the problem...
