The stock drivers side caliper on my 67 Fairlane went away and I decided to "upgrade" to a nice set of Wilwoods with drilled and slotted rotors as they are a nice match to my black wheels. Decided to reassemble w/o the dust shield until I could get them cleaned up and repainted. Looking at the setup now, I like the sans shield look.. any harm in leaving them off? This is just a street ride that rarely goes more than a few hundred miles on weekends.

I say leave them of

Leave them off, you won’t be able to see all that money you spent on brakes. Just
my opinion.

X3.

I'm surprised factory dust shields would even fit or work on aftermarket calipers, unless you're talking about the rear shields that go behind the rotors. I would probably tend to use them, just to keep that nasty dust from coating everything on the front spindles and suspension.

I installed'74 F100 disks on my '65 F100
I believe they direct air onto the rotor an such
Ricky.

Keep them if you can. Helps protect back side from debris that can damage rotor surface. Wheel helps protect front.
-
Rear shield I agree I use them also. I also thought you were talking about outside shields to keep dust off of rims.

2X on the rears only. :)

^^^ Thx all.. guess I'll be tossing them back on once I get them cleaned up. ;)

With my Wilwoods, the factory Hats wouldn't fit. the only problem is brake dust gets all over everything,

X2. Just about all dust shileds that I can think of have a scoop to direct air to the rotor.
