Curious,
What did the 135 cars have for casting dates on their blocks? Is a December block ruled out?

Based on what I have read, this block is about 1 week too late to be a candidate for a 135 car. They were built in the same week this block was cast. Supposedly they had mid December dated blocks. But what I would do is look for an assembly date on the front knorbs below head deck to give a better clue.
From a value standpoint, if it checks out good, it should be in the $2500-3k range mostly if someone needs that date.

I had one a few years ago. Too late for a 135 car, too early for a production CJ by a few months. Likely just out of a full size car, so no real date correct value. The one I had ended up as someone’s race engine.

You stated to early for a CJ block. What is the start date for CJ's?
The rebuilt short block I have is a C scratch +030 and dated 8A9. 1U crank. Could this be within the CJ timeframe?
Thanks

that was a guess on my part. i have never been a mustang guy. pickups are my forte. i have an 8A28 engine that is a PI. it has a vin on it. all i know is that this engine or motor whatever you want to call it looks very good. he said it didn;t have enough power. had CJ heads on it an a split port offenhauser intake on it prior to dissecting. i got all the miscellaneous parts. i will take the short block apart soon as tax season is over. i am a CPA and don;t have the time now but next week maybe. by the end of april it should be out of the hot tank.
