If you can't find a friend/forum member heading the right direction, get on a "load board" that carters to hot shot freight. A lot of times you can find one of them making a deadhead trip and get a pretty good deal.

There are a bunch of them, directload, DAT, etc. Some you have to register for. These are the boards that independent truck drivers use to find work.

Specifically the hotshot guys will typically give the best price if you can wait to find the right guy. If you can't wait, then just search for anyone willing to get the load.
