The factory SOHC parts have become ridiculously expensive.  Robert Pond makes a nice reproduction of the factory dual plane 2X4 for $2500; that's the one I'd buy if I was after one.  I have two originals, and I wouldn't think of letting them go for less than $4K each.  Last year on ebay I sold a pair of factory valve covers for $2900!  The prices for the factory SOHC parts are way, way up there...

- 1964 Ford Galaxie, Drag Week 2009 Winner Modified NA (9.50s @ 143), 585" SOHC
- 1969 Shelby Clone, Drag Week 2015 Winner Modified NA (Average 8.98 @ 149), 585" SOHC

Jay as usual your spot on. I been tossing that around and is probably what i should do to save some money and it being a good piece. I think the Pond Intake is $1550.00. How are his heads? I think ik who bought them covers yikes! I have a set of original Mag covers and 1 single mag I'm looking for a mate scored that one really cheap and its nice. I was going to try to make the outside look as original as possible but with the prices Im rethinking that route.. We  have to step up when these sohc parts pop up if you want OEM as they arent to many left that will probably pop up for sale IMO Thanks Dave

I haven't had a set of Robert's heads in my possession, but I do know a couple people with them, and they are supposed to be very nice.  If his intakes are only $1550 that's a pretty good deal - Jay

Opportunity knocks! Gee, I wish I knew a guy who could take advantage of all that SOHC demand....let me think...... ::)

Wow, that factory SOHC 2X4 intake went pretty reasonable, about $1650.  I've seen them go for a lot more than that.  Timing is everything...

I bid up to 1675.00 idk what happened but my didnt get in and i did it 2 hrs Before the end.. I was concerned about the extra holes drilled and oblonged mounting holes or i wouldve went higher. Ponds is exact match.. cnc though a few could tell the diff but @ 1550.00 its seems the way to go.. I guess i have to make some more money to play in the OEM SOHC parts game heck even the repro stuff LOL Hind sight i shouldve went higher but i was bidding on a set of Halibrand wheels too for my coupe.. :-\

I have a Robert Pond 2 X 4 intake.  Its a nice piece and he's a pleasure to do business with.
