Private Classifieds / Re: Mallory Dist advance springs
« on: April 30, 2024, 03:34:09 PM »
JumpinJim, you interested in this lot?  $125 for all of it shipped (USA).  If your international I'll have to get a shipping quote.  2 distributors, on vacuum on not.  The vacuum can is new, I never installed the distributor after I put it on.  Neither has a module, one is there but it's bad.  Most all of the springs are there, either in that container or in the distributors.  I know 2 of the light ones are not, they went in boat that I sold a while back.  Those shiny springs are not Mallory, don't know what they fit.  Colors are not very apparent on the springs anymore, so deciphering which is which may be difficult, but they are easy enough to get to.  The advance key is there as well as the instruction sheet.  I'm in so cal if your out this way.

428Marauder Not sure how handy you are but it is not really a small job to fit the blockplate gearbox converter and flexplate need to come off. Some one here should be able to give you some starter measurement's to check and make sure there is nothing else going on. Best to check all that when you have it apart and you can check as you put it back together. Or ask you mechanic to check for you.

I wonder, if you cut the center out so it would slip by the crank, you might be able to move the trans back past the dowel pins and slide it in there.....

Post a picture, I'd guess it's some form or pertronix or unilite, those are the ones I remember being rebranded for parts houses.....

I have the single version (not the X, just the stealth) I'm installing on my Mustang, it's pretty much the same size as a standard 4150 Holley with center hung float bowls, no way your fitting two lengthwise on a Ford 2x4 intake, sorry to say.....

Try bypassing the flasher with the signal lever one way or the other.....see if the bulbs light

edit, nevermind, I  see you said  that the bulbs come on.....

I think I'd suspect the flasher units, what brand?  When you have the hazards on, all the bulbs probably give it the required load, maybe one side just isn't enough?

No, talked to one in Lawndale that I used for some (cough) SBC stuff, they do have the torque plates for an FE for the machine work.  That was ten years ago though, not sure if the old school guys are still running the shop.  Mike, it would be street use.  Who in Chatsworth?  Thanks

Anyone have any recommendations for a machine shop in So Cal, preferably not too far from Orange County?  The few places I’ve used in the past and liked are all gone now…..

FE Technical Forum / Re: Initial Advance - How Much Is Too Much?
« on: August 06, 2022, 11:44:12 AM »
I don't have aluminum heads, but I run 14 initial and 36 total.....I got that by advancing it until it idled well and the starter didn't struggle, and then just limited the total so it's 36 at 2500 rpm....
