Title: Weiand intake as a fuel injected intake
Post by: durkzz8 on November 14, 2020, 12:02:24 PM
I recently ran across a guy claiming he has a weiand fe intake, that he welded injector bungs, years ago and I'm thinking about buying it off of him. From what I've read here, that intake is pretty much trash but would it react differently when used with sequential injection? I'm fairly knowledgeable using the early '90s mustang 5.0 system and I'm pretty sure I could set my 390 up with it fairly easily. It's not a monster by any means but it moves my 69 f100 around pretty good. It was a standard 360 block from the truck that I had machined and put in a 390 crank and rods with 1131H-030 pistons. The heads are c8ae-h that have CJ valves. Intake is a stock "s" code. I'm not looking for any more power necessarily but I don't want to lose power by going to that intake. Just really wondering if that intake might perform a little better using sequential injection but not hurt my setup. Thanks for any advice.

If it's the 7282, I think it finished last, in Jays manifold comparison.

The base engine was 410 hp, 433 ci, it only had 355 hp and was down 55 on tq over, even a cast iron C4 manifold.

I had one of those intakes on a 390 once.   It wasn't good.  It was really bad, in my opinion.

I don't think adding sequential fuel injection would help much.  Maybe it could improve fuel distribution and power some, but it still won't be a good intake.  I'd look for a Performer intake or something like that.   Or keep what you have.

The problem with that manifold is that it has a HUGE plenum, and very short runners.  EFI won't help with that...

Thanks guys. I'll shy away from it.

Well, if that's the case, I would add a pair of high boost turbo's with the injection ;)

Oh, you'll have to add custom headers and exhaust, custom, forge pistons, H beam rods and a few other things.

I wish I could boost this thing but the reality of being in the middle of building a 65 Falcon, 7 kids, fixing up a 130 year old house and zero knowledge of anything boost, I'm sure that would go sideways pretty fast. Haha.

Mill the top off and use it as a blower intake!

If he added "Then Tub It!"  it would be Tommy T.

That is often what they were modified to.
