If I was you, I'd do the drinking part last.  Otherwise you're likely to have a Coyote Morning!   :o :o

Im home now. The painter did a fantastic job
on the Packard.Just two small mistakes on the doors
that he said he fix before we said anything about them
I absolutly going to hire him to paint my Galaxie next year or so

Some pix. I'm satisfied with the paint job

The gap around the lid isn't that bad its not adjusted yet.We built this body from scratch
my father made the wood and i made the sheetmetal

And here is a rear fender i made  some small adjustments on them and then to the paintshop
For some dark maroon paint

That is awesome. Skills like this are rarely seen these days. Do you have an English Wheel or did your Dad build a wooden form to shape the panels on? Either way that is some great stuff!

The main body is Formed with wood mallet, hammer and dolly in 9 pieces
the sides ,wheelhouses, top of body, panel under decklid, the cowl sides
and cowl top.(Firewall and cowl vent is reused from a limosine body)
and welded together over a wood structure that the sheetmetal is nailed to
The decklid, the hatches for the golf clubs, doors and fenders is made with an
English wheel and shrinker stretcher all welds are made with gas or tig
The body lines or reveals or what ever the English name are. Are made
in a hand cranked machine with two small wheel that shape the steel
between them I dont know the name for that either

Agree with all, beautiful metal work and paint.  You have an excellent painter especially if you want to use him again!  :o  the hand-cranked machine for the body lines is called a bead roller.  Eastwood.com sells them, among others.  Did you use a bead roller to roll the edge on the rear fender?

I am NOT making fun of you, but that shop looks pretty primitive. I say that because I have seen some of the most remarkable craftsmanship come out of shops that look just like that. An old friend of my Dad's, who is now passed on, did work like that. As a young kid I remember watching him hand forming many pieces to an Auburn Boattail Speedster, and I was amazed at how he worked the steel. He never got in a hurry about anything and it took him several years, but when he was done it was a work of art. His shop looked just like yours in the pictures.

Amazing craftsmanship. Do you still get to work with your dad on a regular basis?
