Interesting find!
I dont think the HiPo 406 Shorty Iron fits the 65-up chassis IIRC.
My dad said they ran out of 406 Shorty iron about mid-1964 so even some 64s left Wayne Assembly with flat "300hp" flat iron.
He never mentioned 65 but I just assumed they were flat.
Those late long irons are so rare, seems they'd be a lot more plentiful if they came factory on all those cop cars.
My dad DID say often though, that if the line ran out of parts, you could give the customer an UPGRADE, but not a downgrade, to keep the line moving.
Using up a pair of long iron to keep the line moving if they ran out of flat logs or maybe cracked one would've been a no-brainer.
But, would the long 427 iron FIT? I'd assume most cop cars had power steering - did this one?
Would the choke tube fit? How? Little details like that are tricky when the line's moving.
What carb is on this one? Is there a factory choke tube on it?
If anything needed the late 427 Iron it would've been the 66 428PI, solid 427 Cam, the flat logs really hurt that.
