Need heads ported in Minnesota
« on: December 08, 2023, 09:01:00 AM »
I have a set of Jon Kaase Boss-9 heads that I want to get ported for a 521cid 385 block engine.
I don't  know  of a shop capable  of doing  a good job on them. Anyone  have a name for me?

Yup, Bryan or Jason are both great choices. Jason Anderson has a business Facebook page for Janderson Heads if you want to see examples of his work.

i am a little late to this but i can tell you what i learned about porting boss heads.i sent my heads to kaase to have them and his intake ported, and they told me that they may not make more power with porting.i still did that and dont regret spending the money, but what i should have done was have a 2.450 intake valves installed instead!
that would add 100 hp over just porting and more airflow!ported, the intake port flowed 460,and as a 11.6 comp pump gas 557 it made 912 hp on dyno at 6900.still with the kaase 2.300 intake valve.but i now see adding bigger valves on these heads makes more hp.
kaase made 914 on unported boss heads with 10.0 comp on his 521 ci.
also, this article states that about porting.boss heads have a much better quality of flow entering the cylinder than most wedge heads.ford did a lot of research on swirl etc in the 60s to come up with this.its a good read.

also heres more infor on the 460 forum about the hi-port version on kaase boss heads.big numbers on flow and hp!
