I don’t have any personal experience, but most people I’ve seen comment on the internet seem to recommend Frank Merkl for C6 valve bodies. This is the last contact info I have for him.

Call Jay at Broader , Frank Merkel is a great C6 builder too , he's a Farmer and might not answer the phone when you call , Frank figured out TCI's slow to shift into third on the TCI manual reverse valve body with Brake

By "Early model case", do you mean a 66 only case? I understand that the 66 valve body is an oddball, but if replacing the actual valve body itself, wondering what the issue is? If you mean the style of spring loaded shifter detent design, years ago, when I installed a Ford Motorsport/Art Carr full manual, reverse pattern valve body, I ran into a situation, where there was an issue with the valve body setup for the leaf spring roller detent on the inside shifter lever, but my case was the other style, which had a detent spring in the valve body. The other style VB had the provision for the detent spring, so I just swapped the spring and pin from my stock valve body, into the new VB. Worked just fine.

Transgo 67-3 is a full manual forward pattern valve body kit that works great .It will work with your early valve body that has the detent in the valve body .It isn't hard to install and you can convert it over to automatic shifting with the extra parts in the kit .Doug
