Does anyone know of a straight thermostat housing that will bolt to an FE intake? It doesn't need a thermostat, I just need one to hook up the return rad hose. The standard 90 degree one causes all KINDS of clearance issues for what I am doing. A 351C one is too small, I already tried that. I can make one, but its a lot of hassle if theres something out there that I am not aware of that would just bolt up.

I believe these are 90°. I've never tried the "O- ring" style.

The oem one is 90 degree, that's what I already have, what I am looking for is a straight one, like a 351C, but to fit an FE.

How hard would it be to mill off the base of an FE thermostat housing and then weld a straight tube to it?

That's probably what I will end up doing, either that or just fabricating one from scratch out of aluminum. But I thought I would try to find a bolt-on solution first.

I think the stock 90 degree neck will work, I was worried about clearance around the idler, but its far enough forward to run the upper hose behind the belt.

An old 292/312 Y Block for Thunderbird will fit, but they are hard to come by, and pricey if you find them. Mummert in CA has new ones in aluminum for about $65.00 if memory is correct. Joe-JDC

Good to know Joe, thanks. If things don't work out with the 90 degree neck, I will get a Y-block neck.

If the housing is corroded any, it will not seal properly. But it can be made to work as you said you don't need a thermostat. A thermostat will not work. Joe-JDC

I think a big block Mopar will work if you elongate the holes slightly.
