This vid doesn't show the Galaxies but I would like to see how they did the 60+ feet of stick welds on the frames.

A few years ago i picked up a '64 Lincoln Continental new car brochure at a swap meet and gave it to my friend Joe who has a '64. looking through the brochure I had to chuckle when I saw this page detailing the careful inspection your new '64 Lincoln got after assembly - lower left corner, of the inspector checking out the cigar lighter. I guarantee you when this guy got in your new Lincoln the first thing he did was light up that big stogie before going about his tests lol. Can you imagine any car company now days showing a picture of an employee smoking in your new car?

Hahaha  As if you couldn't test the lighter by letting it pop out and looking for the cherry red filament. Stogie man probably kicked it after lighting up 250 times a day. As an aside, I lost my grandfather when my father was but 12 due to mouth cancer from smoking cigars. Not sure if he worked for Lincoln, but he was in the Marines in WWI. I have pics.

A guy I know bought a brand new '63 Galaxie and it had a rattle in one of the rear doors. Took it back to the dealer and they found a Coke bottle in the door.

Yeah, that stuff still goes on today.  A friend of mine is at the top of a local dealership service department, he talked about some of the "fun" they've had with disgruntled auto workers.  Said the best one he saw involved a washer hanging on a string inside a door.  It came with a note that said "so how long did it take you to find this"?

Body parts never go back on like that in my shop LOL.  At the end of the video, the new car leaving with the window down looks like an oops.

My other Consul Capri had a stubby beer bottle in the left rear quarter ahead of the wheelwell. It must have rolled back and forth and made a racket. The rear trim panel had never been off and the black tarpaper was still sealed. That was built at Dagenham plant.
