Stroker Kits
« on: November 25, 2016, 04:54:35 PM »
I know I should use the kits that our vendors here recommend, but I have a close friend who owns a local speed shop here in town. He can get me an Eagle 462 kit at his price which is VERY good. How do you guys like the Eagle kits. The intended use is a hot street cruiser 462 in a 67 F100.

Not an Eagle fan, either.  The Scat is better for sure.  Sometimes,  you get what you pay for.

The only issue that I have with the RPM cranks is that they are all oversized in journal diameters.   The cranks themselves are nice but you can count on having to have them touch-ground or cut .010/.010 before you even get started.

I do almost exclusively Scat for the reasons mentioned.

I have only see three broken stroker FE cranks and two of them were Eagles in a very mild application.

Following this thread with interest.  I haven't heard of issues with broken Eagle cranks, but have been warned to run away from hyper-eutectic pistons (which I think is part of the Eagle kit) due to their tendency to shatter, and that forged pistons are cheap insurance (the Scat kits include forged pistons).  Any opinions on kit pistons?
