any one used bolt in replacements for std type shock spring set up for a bolt in adjustable coilover? no mods bolt in type

Thats a pretty nice setup. Does anyone know what a stock big block spring rate is. Thats gotta save 20lbs a side.

I installed the Aldan setup on my 71 Ranchero. Went in great and if I remember the coil rate is 400 lbs for the big block.
I liked them so much I ordered a set for my 63 Galaxie.

With double adjustable shocks you'd have to dial in the equivalent for extension and rebound. I'd imagine Aldan or the shock mfg could get you a close dial in to start.
I like the Aldan setup. Wonder how the "450 in/lb" rate works in place of my Moroso Trick springs that are 242 in/lbs. They may have other spring rates available.

In my opinion, the first set-up referenced is asking a lot of the top three bolts & area about the fastening in the shock-tower (might want to add some additional steel weldment reinforcement here) ;) ; and the second looks a lot like a Rube-Goldberg endeavor to make a wrong coil-over fit in an application it doesn't belong (and accepting an overly compact component, when if taking advantage of the available distance something better could be had just seems wrong)! :o
But it's all bright & shinny; and it sells! ::)

The Alden system comes with a thick top plate and new bolts for the top of the shop tower.
Seems to be much stronger then stock.

these a pretty nice as well,and have a tapered spring.they are viking double adjustable shocks and springs.bolt in for fairlane.i have a set on my 64 fairlane,but have not driven the car yet!they are nice quality parts.

My setup is basicly the same with the same spring rate. If ypu think about an FE will weigh in above 500 pounds.
I know with my 71 with a 429 they work fine.
Not sure but I think the 429 is lighter then the FE.

Yes i went from a stock 390 c6 to 482 bbm and toploader and mine droped almost 1 inch over what it was before

Where the hell did the extra weight come from? Thought the new combo would be loaded with aluminium.

Not in O.E.M. production trim. Believe me, the 385's are heavier! ;)

Only heads and intake and my old 390 had a alloy intake on it. Mine would be fine but the lakewood scatter shield has the 2 inch lip right around it that eats up my speed bump height.

Modifications to the bell housing in any fashion will exclude your housing from future re-certifications and could possibly eliminate your car from competition on a sanctioned drag strip. Some tech inspectors subscribe to the opinion that even if the class you desire to compete in has no requirement for an item of safety equipment which you have chosen to install then you are still required to maintain the current certification just as if the item were required by the class rules. Good luck.

Not sure what that has to do with coilover shock's and street use my car is not a super stock car.

He's just giving you a heads up from the track trenches that NHRA inspectors can be azzholes. Should you decide to play in some event where they are present.

The BBM is much heavier than a basic 390 , between the additional lifter valley reinforcements , thicker cylinder walls , thicker deck , beefier main caps all adds up

A BBM block is quite a bit heavier than a factory FE, about 75lbs IIRC
