Title: rear main seal

The 428 i am  doing has rope rear seal i have not did a rope seal for a long time. If i remember rite they had a little pin in the main cap.This one don't have it is it needed if i stay with rope.

Wayne, my suggestion is to go to a lip seal. Offset the ends so the parting line of the seal-halves and the block/cap don't coincide. Fill the side-seal grooves with a modern 'toothpaste-tube-type goo'. (Thanks to Brother Lon for the nomenclature.) This combination is least likely to leak. Be sure to put the seals in such a way that they point 'in'. :)

No one runs rope seals anymore on an FE. When you purchase the seal buy the R.A.C.E Felpro set.
