FE Technical Forum / thoughts on FITECH EFI
« on: April 13, 2016, 09:06:04 AM »
Getting ready to pull the trigger on a fitech efi system. I'm looking at the 30008 Meanstreet setup. Lots of reviews and 99% are great. I konw there is some crazy smart efi guy's on this site so I'm looking for some input positive or negative. The carb I have now is slightly to small (750) and only has 2 corner air fuel ajustment and My motor would do better with 4 corner.  SO insted of a carb,Im thinking EFI ....

FE Technical Forum / Msd ready to run problems
« on: October 12, 2015, 01:37:42 PM »
I had a no start condition the other night and had to get towed home. After some investigation I found the dizzy not sending a signal. I tapped on the side with a wood hammer handle and it started right up.  Ran great, shut it off , no spark again.  Anyone know how to fix this? This dizzy has less than 3000 miles on it... msd won't warranty it ,so I'm stuck fixing it or replacing it.  Thanks

FE Technical Forum / Ford FE c6 help !
« on: April 26, 2015, 09:59:46 AM »
I took the car out for the first time and it seemed to work great. At the end of the day started to act up. The shift from second to third. right when it shifts to third it rev's freely and then hits third. no slipping ect. just a free rev. it does this at any rpm and it does this if in D or shifted by hand.

I removed the pan and filter to find nothing of concern. fluild looked good and only a little silver in the pan.

Im not sure what controls the 2nd to third shift. I have not adjusted the band yet or messed with the servo.

any help? thanks

FE Technical Forum / Let's talk Carb's !
« on: February 22, 2015, 09:07:49 AM »
I'm planing a carb/fuel system upgrade this year. Right now I run a 750 vac sec holley and a single n20 kit with the fuel supply run off a mec pump for everything and it works perfect and never goes lean on any full throttle passes. ( I run on board digital air/fuel )

I feel Im leaving some Hp on the table and also not running the ideal fuel supply.

Im also on the edge with 11.1 comp pistons and zero deck.

last year I did see a couple of times where fuel soak started to get me on hot days in traffic... It would just start to get ruff and doggy.

My motor .. Fe stroker, 11:1,294s cam,Eddy heads,fpa headers,Rpm intake,street driven,3,500 stall c6,3:70 gears,100-200 shot, et streets, full weight car.

The car likes to be Hot ... It gets to temp Imo very fast ... 1 mile of driving its upto temp. 190ish and will NOT run cooler no matter what I do and runs 200's down the highway on hot days and stays 200 after that. Granted it does not ever over heat. it just likes 200 ! lol ... and 200 is ok in my book ...

So fuel ! Im on the fence ! I'm dizzy with ideas.  one side of me is thinking a bolt on efi. like fast or msd. My racer side is thinking of switching to E85 to run a little cooler and twist in some more timing. Then on the other side I'm thinking a 850 mec and a return system.

In the perfect world Im looking for 50hp more from the motor. I think im leaving that on the table with the vac 750 carb..

what do you think ?

FE Technical Forum / Stroker engine hwy temp
« on: June 29, 2014, 06:22:37 AM »
Its not a problem, only a question. Idling, cruising, trafffic my car will run 180-210  all day long never gets to hot.... Now Running down the highway it seems to run 200-210-215 .....never over heats but runs on the warm side.

setup

180 thermostat, new 4 core alum raid, clutch fan,shroud,5 blade ac fan blade, 370 gears ,tci 3,500stall, trans cooled through raid and aftermarket cooler infront of raid.  Front of raid / grill area is wide open and Way free to moving air (imo)   timing is 38 total ...

My question, My thoughts are that I think it should be cooling down on the highway and heating up sitting. It likes to run on the warm side when running down the freeway. Do you think this is the converter heating things up?  or ?

p.s. this motor only has maybe 2,000 miles on it.... Its wierd, from dead cold it will goto 180 in less than 5 mins running time. it warms to temp very fast IMO. never over heats but gets to temp very fast.

p.s. air fuels are right on, plugs are perfect. car runs an pulls perfect....just think it should run cooler on the highway...Imo ...

« on: April 16, 2014, 11:05:12 PM »
Im swapping out rockers from alum to steel and on my first check push rods seem pretty short ... are they ok to run like this or not ? there about 5 threads out... Im going to swap them all over to hd shafts and use spacers and end stands ...I would rather not reorder push rods being these one are very spendy smith rods...thanks

« on: September 22, 2013, 10:09:16 PM »
Most of you know and or have seen my fairlane. Im planning on doing a drag stip trip and want to see what it will do.

My plan is to run a set of et streets and run open headers 100,150 shot of juice if it seems to be hooking and goes straight.

any other tips ?

What do you think it will run ? 14's ? 13's ? 12's? 11's?

car is running great and seems to be pretty fast for what it is .. cant wait ...

Thanks

FE Technical Forum / funny issue fe motor
« on: August 17, 2013, 09:59:53 AM »
last night while stuck in a line of traffic going threw the car show My engine started to get alittle warm (215-220) and it started to miss/fuel problem.  It has me thinking that, 1 the heat soak is getting to the fuel system 2. The hot air is trapped under the hood and the car does not like the open element air filter. once I got going the problem went right away and not to return .  My first thought is the motor is not very hot and it should not be vapor locking ect at this temp,BUT it does have 92 sa fuel in it ... could this be a ethanol fuel issue?

I have always loved the thunderbolt dual snorkel style air cleaner ....so that is also a thought  ;D

anyone ever had this happen ? fix, cure advise?

Sorry I dont have a fuel psi gauge on the car yet so I have no idea what it might have been doing.
