The additional webbing and the cross-bolt bosses were also seemingly commonly found in the '64 Mercury 410 blocks.    :)

     Scott.

That would be very rare as the 410 Merc FE was 66-67 only

« on: May 23, 2024, 09:20:33 PM »
Very complete and original Crower 8H Injection- if you can find a more complete one, you better buy it! Has the original side decals, original Crower barrel valve with decal and lines, and the original leather boot with Crower logo patch. Disclosure, it has a hairline crack or casting flaw in the hat- see picture- can't see or feel it on the inside. Nostalgia Alcohol or Nitro, this was a very good performing and popular unit of Garlits etc back in the day. $3,000 plus UPS shipping

It kinda sounds like the familiar story of a Chebbie- infused shop trying to wing it through an FE build using what they know works on a Chebbie. Anyone with much performance FE experience would know that those size valves won't go in a 390 block. Starting from scratch on how to do a strong FE many times ends up with some nice parts getting boogered up as the builder tries to make it into a Chebbie. Too many FE- savvy shops out there- they are just different than Chebbies

I got double- hooked in 1967. Ed Lowther let me sit in his 427 Cobra, running, at the Glen 500 at Watkins Glen. And I went for a ride in a '64 R-code Galaxie 500

Damn Gene thats just hard to top!

The Mini's and Bugeye Sprites were hilarious to watch
My admission ticket to the '65 USRRC race at Watkins Glen. I still have all the old race programs

Well some of us have to be happy with the lokal abandoned war airfield with some austin mini, Volvo PV
and some stinking twostroke SAABs and DKW ::) ;D

Try Jay Cushman on FB, he trades in a lot of surplus or used NASCAR stuff. Very high quality stuff, not drag racing type but circle track and road race

Is it possible that your tach is variable amount of cylinders? I used to have a 4-6-8 tach in my Mach1, with a little switch on the back. Was lots of fun showing the Chebbrainwashed that my 351W would spin 7500

My buddy with the pulling truck brought over some wheel centers for me to trim, as they were about 1/8" too big for the new wider wheels he had. Another friend who was a whiz on the lathe had cut them out for him out of the scrap pile when they both worked at Mare Island. So I chuck one up on my 16x60 South Bend, with a new carbide cutter thinking no problem  ::) SCREEEEEE! and create a long wire and much smoke  ??? Slowed it down, same thing, cutting a wire with much smoke and noise, very slow progress. Used up 4 carbides getting it done, and I asked him WTH is that stuff??? He says it's Ducol steel- which had many uses, including WWII battleship armour. Mare Island scrap pile indeed  :o

I'm going to be sorry to see the '57 Courier Sedan Delivery go, as it's pretty sweet- but it looks like it's going to go to a good local friend who will do it justice- just have too many. And that way it will still get an FE as I was going to do

1957 Ford Courier Sedan Delivery, second owner, original to Sacramento. The gal I got it from rode home in it with her dad when he bought it in the fall of '56, and she and her husband took it on their honeymoon. Original 223 six-cylinder runs, has 3 spd on the column. Pretty much all original, dog dish hub caps etc., appears to have been repainted once. Seat has been reupholstered and looks good. Car will run and drive but needs brakes, wheel cylinders are shot from sitting in storage. Clean title on Non-Op. I have many extra parts to go with it, including a complete station wagon two-piece tailgate, taillight lenses, bumpers etc. More parts I accumulated for it (not included at this point) can be negotiated- I have an 80's toploader 3+1 OD trans, a 1970 R11 3spd with OD from an F100, nice FPA headers for FE engine, bellhousings, C6 auto etc. Also have a new repop set of 15x7 Magnum 500 wheels, and a set of Mustang Bullitt 17" wheels. Also could supply a fresh 390 or 428. Was jazzed about this one and gathered a lot of stuff for it, was going to put a 427 in it, and then picked up that hot rod 56 Bird, something has to go, have too many. Your mural or business name will look great on this one. $12,000   In 94558

This is the magazine that I have upstairs somewhere, articles on the G7-A, Honker II, Calliope etc. with great cutaways. I was lucky enough to start going to Watkins Glen in '65 with the USRRC, production and sedan races that morphed into the Can-Am and.Trans-Am, and went to Mosport for the Can-AM in 67, with the first orange McLaren M6As. Also still have the race programs that prove what cars ran where with who driving, including the Glen 6-Hour Enduro with the Howmet Turbines and such. Neither the G7-A or the Honker II did very well, the G7-A was grossly overweight for that class car, being made from a MKIV endurance car
Site would not let me upload the magazine cover with the G7-A

I have a new old stock set of Mickey Thompson aluminum FE rods from 1965 and they use Allen heads like that.
I had a NOS set like that in the box that I found at Turlock, and sold to someone- same ones?
