I am sure many of you have seen these previously, but in regard to crazy push rod angles, you are going to need to get way crazier than what Jay has going on here to even get close to the Mickey Thompson solution for his Hemi Headed FE back in the day.

Hello All.

Mission accomplished!

I was able to find a local car, from a really nice guy, equipped the way I wanted, but I did end up going a good bit above my budget.

They sure aren't giving these things away these days.

R Code 3.91 Drag Pack

Thanks for everyone's replies.

The picture is after completing the deal at the previous owners garage last night, I won't actually have it home for about a month.

As you can see in the back ground, he has a mountain of Mach 1 stuff, what you can't see are the several other cars, and the rest of high end pieces in his collection.

Just a really cool old guy, and I'm very glad to have met him.

Hello All.

I am looking for a 69-70 Mustang fastback.

Hoping to find something that is a driver, and doesn't need complete unibody reconstruction (but I am a realist), preferably some kind of running project, all the way up to a decent driver.

Whatever it is, I am going to top out budget wise at about 20k, and I am located on the east coast.

Thanks much, Mike Howard, cell / text at 617-913-5540

I absolutely love that Montego!

paulie

Thanks. After I broke it, I took the car down and started a frame off rebuild with all 1975 Grand National period correct parts and theme. The car now has jacking bolts on all 4 corners, fabricated Chevy style truck arms with panhard bar in the rear, fabricated tube uppers, modified stock lower CA's and tons of race car style fabrication.  Power is a 600hp 408 Cleveland with a Bud Moore maxi box and Roush style HiPorts.

A couple pictures attached, but here is a build thread with a ton of pictures.

Sorry for the hi-jack, I don't get out much  :)

I bought one of those off eBay and put it in my 73 Montego GT. Nothing special 351c, 4 speed, 4.10 gears, sticky 245/50 16 tires.

It took 4 summers worth of beating the ever living tar out of it, ended up breaking a 28 spline axle, and twisting the daylights out of the other side in it, but it always locked up, never un-loaded.

I know, you get what you pay for, but I got way more fun out of that piece than I should have.

Private Classifieds / Re: 390 Builder EDC-E Heads Streetmaster Intake

I would love to have the short block and intake but I just ran the shipping and it is way high to AR.

How much for the intake alone?

I am not going to break up the package at this point, was actually thinking about those .030 forged pistons with the crusty pins Barry has, but would really like to move on at this point.

There is a Fastenal location across the street from my work if that helps.

I can pallet, shrink wrap, and deliver to that location (Braintree, MA 02184) for the asking price.

Thanks, Mike H.

Private Classifieds / 390 Builder EDC-E Heads Streetmaster Intake
« on: August 20, 2018, 12:57:33 PM »
Hello All.

This is a 390 builder I am moving on from as I found myself a 428 to use instead.

I have had this set of heads for decades, really nice set of castings that are in nice shape with no damage or issues.

EDC-E castings with machined combustion chambers.

The block date code is 9E24. It is hard to read, but it is a 9 with a dash under it.

The head date codes are 76D & 86F, the early casting has the freeze plug in the ends, the later one does not.

The block is standard bore, the crank is standard / standard.

It has a matched set of C7AE-B rods, the timing cover, and a good set of nonadjustable shafts / rockers.

This is the 3rd Streetmaster intake I have owned, I blasted it because someone painted it black.

This is the cleanest one I have had to date. All the threads are 100% except the water outlet threads for the heater core. They are not that crisp.

I think it is a reasonably easy fix. It looks like it could be chased with a pipe tap, and then use some thread sealer on it.

I was going to freshen this up with a set of .030 forged pistons, send the heads out for a CJ valve job, and put new rings / bearings in it, but am moving on to the 428 instead.

Located south of Boston, MA.

Asking $800.00 for everything as seen and I am open to offers or trades.

Thanks, Mike Howard

Valvoline VR1 straight 40.

My stuff is older, usually has plenty of miles on it and for the most part is used in the summer time only.

It provides "Piece of mind" by bumping the oil pressure reading at idle over 10w-30 (when hot) by about a full 10 PSI.

Thanks, Mike H.

Hello FElony.

I looked into purchasing that Montego about 2 years ago (before I purchased my current 1972 Montego) from the same seller, at which time he sent me about a dozen additional pictures.

It is no where near as bad as an East Coast car (where I live), but it is not your typical desert car either. I no longer have the pictures, but I would bet the seller can send them to you if you ask for them.

I sold you the dash pad and a bunch of other Montego parts when you fist got the Montego GT.

I cut these fender wells out of a Torino I parted and saved them for quarter patch pieces.

I have been very successful in the past using sections of front fenders to patch quarter panels on cars that panels are not readily available for.

I can hold them up against my car so you can see that they are very usable to repair the Montego rear wheel lip if you think they might work for you.

Pictures of the panels and my car attached. If you think these would work for you, they are yours for $20.00 plus the shipping.

Thanks, Mike Howard.

I would like to add some additional dyno information from my 351c build with a Bud Moore dominator top Maxi Box intake.

The engine is 408 inches, 4v iron heads with closed chambers. It has Roush intake inserts installed and PME hi-port exhaust plates.

The Roush hi-port plates were no longer available at the time when I bought the BME intake and inserts from Red at Roush racing in 1990.

It is 10.0:1 compression so it is pump gas friendly and has a custom solid flat tappet cam.

The only work done to the intake was the floor of the ports were epoxied up to match the height of the intake inserts about 6 inches into the intake runners, and it has Pro Systems 1050 dominator installed on top.

The engine made 582 HP at 6800.

Please PM me if you have questions not related to the thread topic.

Thanks, Mike H.
