i have buddys that are big chevy fans.they often ask me why i spend so much building a Ford when you can build a chevy much cheaper?my answer is, you got your cheap sh?? at a cheap price,you get what you paid FORd!!

Well - depending on the engine, they are right.  You can build a "claimer" 350 chev pretty dang cheap.  Have to when the rules say a loser can buy your winning race motor for $250.  Most basic stuff is comparable - blocks, crank kits and heads are where you can pick up a lot of savings. Even many of the Ford stroker kits use Chevy type rods, chevy bearing sizes, etc.  Dart SHP chevy block based on 400 mains runs $1668 at Summit, Ford 351 block similar specs $2038.  I think the Ford block will allow more displacement.

this is a old joke i made up back in the 80s when it was way easier to build a chevy than a ford i would tell them back then that 350s are a dime a dozen,they were back then,and they would say ,i will take 50 cents worth then.
