The original Boss cars used narrow springs and some of them had very unique rear end assemblys. As with all racing lots of cheating was going on and no two cars were the same...The Pontiac cars ran chev 302's.Alot of the Pontiacs used Camaro sheetmetal as well...Mustangs hid override traction bars under the rear seat.Camaro's had the subframes moved.....it goes on and on.

They have all been upgraded as far as engine, brakes and ign goes..They still race them in vintage racing and that's all I care. They are out of my price range...

I just built the car for fun...
No idea who made the finned cover..

The aluminum toploader cover is a Jerico part.  I'm not sure if they still make that cover.

The narrow Trans Am springs were sourced from a early Fairlane I think.

What size/brand of wheels & tires did you manage to stuff under the car?

Interesting about the Fairlane springs..I will have to look at that..The cover does look like a Jerico but I cant confirm it.
My front wheels are 15x6 with M/T sportsman tires 26x10...The rear wheels are 15x7 that I added another inch to the inside (now 15x8) with 28x12 M/T tires, the width clears (barely)but the diam is to much.I will switch them to 26x12's.I also narrowed the nine inch housing to 65/66 specs....Its a very tight fit but its the look I was after....Cory

Tomorrow I dig out a Jerico cover I have laying around and take a picture of it.  And I'll measure some springs too, there's a set of early Fairlane springs somewhere.

Say, Lovehammer, did you build that wicked, period correct aluminum front spoiler. Man, I have wanted one for my '70 'Stang as, no kidding, with the flexy black plastic lower, my car definitely floats at high speed. Scary at times too.

I can't take all the credit for it.  A friend over on the B302 forum sent me a template, so all I had to do was cut it out.  I don't know where the template is anymore but I'll be pulling this spoiler soon and If you want I can make another template for you.

Well I'm still messing with the pictures of the Jerico cover but I did measure the width of the springs.   A 64 Fairlane spring is 2" wide and Mustangs are 2 1/2" wide.

Sure, would love to have a cardboard or heavy paper template, one I could have a shop use to fab up a duplicate.

I will post completed pictures when I am done along with a story.Car is not just a decaled clone.....Cory
My understanding is that you cannot race in the SVRA without the car having a real history with provenance, correct?  Is that where you are going with this car?  If not, then where?

You are probably correct...I cant afford to race the vintage race classes anyways..Building it was just a idea I came up with 10-12 years ago.
I honestly built it just for fun...I enjoy hunting down parts and just being different.
Car is street legal.I am up in BC Canada...the historic tracks are a long ways away..

They are pretty liberal at the vintage races that are held at Pacific Raceways over the 4th of July weekend. There is a green 67 fastback that I have seen run there for several years that is more of a street car than yours.

Certainly looks like it....I bought it off e-bay.Seller claimed it was magnesium but it was not...I didn't pay much for it..I always plug the vent hole in the lid and relocate it to the tailshaft so it worked out fine..
