FE Technical Forum / 4500 flange Dove intake
« on: February 27, 2022, 12:43:44 PM »
Since Dove only made a few dominator flange intakes we welded this one up. Had a summit adapter milled 3/4" and the intake milled 3/4" then welded them. Smoothed out the plenum with a air powered mini belt sander and various carbides.
Wondering your thoughts on performance?

FE Technical Forum / Transmission recommendation
« on: June 27, 2020, 10:20:43 AM »
I am looking to upgrade the toploader in my mustang. It has to be kept a manual, no fluid couplers thingies. My engine was upgraded a bit so I don't think the toploader will hang in there too long. Thoughts on jerico, g force? Don't want to cut the car up to bad to make it fit.

FE Technical Forum / Printo seals strike again
« on: August 26, 2018, 06:48:09 PM »
My intake gasket has been seeping on the outside of my head all year. Finally pulled the intake and found the printo leaks are saturated and not even stuck down in spots. Plugs have been getting oil fouled and it is running way to rich.
Looking to do a cam swap and change the dove intake for a street dominator.
What is a good intake gasket for medium riser ports?

Drag Strip Results for FE Powered Vehicles / my 67 gta fairlane
« on: September 03, 2017, 05:30:17 PM »
Finally got my fairlane to the track this summer. This a driver that sees about a thousand miles a year.
Engine is a .60 over 390 cross bolted. Old trw 12 to one pistons. Truck rods, arp bolts. Heads are aluminum  dove f5, hand ported by me. They flow 290 at .600 lift. Dove rockers, Dove spider itake, 950 biggs carb. Cam is .569 intake .580 exhaust, 108 lobe. Trans is c6 with 3600 converter, 3.89 gears, full spool.
Performance was 1/8 mile, 7.76 at 88.6 mph, 1.71 60ft.
Had some tuning issues and broke a rocker adjuster on the last pass, but i think there is a couple tenths left with some proper tuning.

Good Deals! / forum member bolted to the floor

Bought a set of headers from John D. He was very honest with the description, they are in better shape than he described. He even offered a refund if they were not as expected.  Great communication, fast shipping,  and a shipping box that was so well built I will reuse it. All in all stand up guy and I would not hesitate to buy from again!

FE Technical Forum / Truck 390: Reloaded
« on: August 21, 2015, 04:28:47 PM »
My buddy is looking to rebuild his recently deceased 390 in his f250. Doing this on a limited budg(newer wife, new baby, new house). Truck is a 76 f250, 4spd, 4.10, spd, 37" tires. Use is some towing, winter driving.
He is looking at staying with the  stock crank and rods, as a 445 isn't in the budget. Looking at a line hone, bore with torque plate, polish the crank (hopefully).  He has a,750 carb, new performer rpm, new set of heddman Elite headers. Wondering what would be a good rebuid kit and cam. Last time it had to much compression, about 10.7,
and pinged horribly. Maybe some hypereutectic or forged pistons. Wondering if you guys had some thoughts on how you would build it. Thanks.

FE Technical Forum / edelbrock 5906 valve spring set up
« on: April 27, 2015, 12:51:15 PM »
We have a set of c4 g heads we are setting up for a 64 gal with a  performer rpm cam and intake. Running 390 with d2 heads, rpm intake and cam. The d2 heads have stock springs. The c4 heads are fresh stock rebuild. Ordered springs from summit, they sent 5906. The exhaust spring is shorter than the intake, and is to be used with a rotator to offset the difference?  I have never seen a rotator on any of my stuff. What are my options? Any help appreciated.

FE Technical Forum / F E Engine masters???
« on: December 14, 2014, 07:34:08 PM »
Just thinking out loud, but after seeing how fords and especially the fe get pushed out, wouldn't it be nice to have an fe shoot out?  Just a friendly competition for bragging rights. Maybe a pump gas class, stroker class, and all out. Rules could be set by the competitors, maybe voted on by the forums? Sure seems like interest would be good looking at how big Beaver springs is. Now if someone had a dyno......
