Where does the drain hose go? Does the hose drain to the ground, back to the radiator or to a recovery tank?

On the original Ford cars, it went to the ground. If you ever plan to track the car, it will have to go to a catchcan. I have mine going to a recovery tank/catchcan but not sure if the recovery portion is working.
It never goes to the radiator.

it goes strait down to just about the bottom of the oil pan. There is a clip fastened to the bottom bolt of the water pump to keep it secured from flopping around.
