Private Classifieds / 77 peter pirsch 85ft aerial on 75 c900 chassis
« on: April 28, 2024, 06:26:37 PM »
I know this isn't FE, but it is a very cool old Ford. I had the honor of driving this one last time to take it to auction.
This will be for sale on the R&M motors retirement auction on Monday 4/28
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/h16F4VF9twG4KGJW/?mibextid=oFDknk

It has a 531superduty with a 5 spd transmission

I have a video of the truck running, but someone handier at these things than me would have to do it.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Side mirrors for Galaxie
« on: March 31, 2024, 09:27:43 AM »
Are the reproduction rectangular rearview side mirrors decent quality, or should I be looking for an original?  The diver's side mirror on my 66 is getting sloppy and I'd like to add a mirror to the passenger side.

Thanks and Happy Easter

This car isn't mine, but it is local to me and might make a good project for someone.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Holley LED headlights

Has anyone tried the Holley Retrobiright LED plug and play headlamps?   https://www.holley.com/products/lighting/headlights/  I'd be interested in reading an unbiased review before I invest in a set for the galaxie.

Private Classifieds / How much is too much?

I found a pair of what are supposed to be NOS armrests for a 66 galaxie on Ebay.  Is $200 a pair out of line, or is that what the market is right now?

FE Technical Forum / Fan Shroud for 66 Galaxie w/352
« on: June 21, 2021, 03:10:51 PM »
Has anyone used Rhino Fabrication fan shrouds?  What might my best option be for putting a shroud on my car?  I'm hoping that getting a shroud back on it will prevent it from vapor locking in hot weather/slow speed operation.

The ferrite fell out of the pickup on my old craftsman timing light. Where might I find a suitable replacement?  Would a small bar magnet work?

FE Technical Forum / Gas in oil
« on: September 19, 2020, 08:52:24 PM »
The 352 in my galaxie started running rough and now has gas in the oil. The 4100 carb was last rebuilt about 5 years ago and the fuel pump is about 4 years old.  Any ideas?

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Ceramic Coating Headers
« on: January 20, 2018, 12:17:14 PM »
I've seen a lot of talk about the benefits of ceramic coating headers.  Is this something that must be sent to a commercial coater, or can it be done in a home shop or possibly a local powder coater.  If it is something that must be sent out, what is the typical cost for a set of FPA headers?

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Disk Brake Conversions
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:05:53 AM »
Is there a disk brake conversion for a 66 Galaxie that won't widen the track?  I just looked at Wilwood's site and theirs adds width to the front end.

FE Technical Forum / 4100 carb question
« on: June 01, 2014, 10:16:57 AM »
This is on a stock 352 in a 66 Galaxie.

Idles about 650 rpm after a brief warm up without the air cleaner, but jumps to about 800 rpm without the lid on the carb.  With the air cleaner on the idle will quickly turn choppy and wants to stall.  Both of the screws holding the boosters in place were loose, as was the center stud, all were tightened and all of the vents in the cover were checked and blown out with compressed air.  When the lid is removed with the engine running, there is an audible rush of air into the carb and the vacuum on the lid can be felt.

With the lid on the carb, the idle quickly gets choppy and wants to stall, without the lid, the idle picks up and smooths out.

The air filter is clean, and there is a pertronix kit installed.

I plan to swap the plugs today.

I can't figure out why there is so much vacuum on the lid and why it runs so much better with the lid off.

Any ideas?

Mike
