DragWeek set back
« on: August 21, 2014, 08:41:15 PM »
I was out on yet another road test in the Galaxie this evening and I
burnt up 2nd gear in my C6 so I may not be going. Ever
since I put the big motor in the car I have been concerned how well my
home built C6 would hold up. I guess better now than out in the
middle of nowhere. I believe I have all the pieces to put the TKO600
back in the car so I'll probably start on that tomorrow night and go
from there. Fun fun fun!   >:(

Hey, get that tranny in and make the show!

All other forms of life (sleep, sex, food, beer, etc.) should be put totally on hold until it runs again!

Hah!

It had been my plan anyway to put the TKO600 back in it after DragWeek. Call me a lightweight or whatever but I just don't like drag racing a manual transmission. But at this point if I pull the C6 out it ain't going back in. Hey, I got two more weeks. Plenty of time!

I think I dodged a bullet. I took the pan off tonight and found the intermediate band had shifted out of position. I realigned adjusted it so I think I am back in bidness! There was no junk in the pan and the oil looked clean.  8)

Alan, good picture!  Says a 1000 words. As long as you figure out what caused that band to be out of position in the first place, IMO.

Good luck at Drag Week! A bucket list item for sure!

Wow, never saw a band slip like that. Agree that the cause needs to be found pronto. Very strange!

Well I imagine that was an Alan induced problem. When I put it together I bet I didn't get the band adjusted correctly to begin with. I am going to check it over real close before I button it back up to make sure something else didn't cause it.
