FE Technical Forum / Re: Steve Morris Engines Cammer build.

I watched the video and all I could wonder is if the engine was being built for Dan's Galaxie project??

I have been following that Galaxie build. I'm completely on the fence if I like it or not. The dark green Mustang they built for the show is 10x better in my opinion and it looked like it was 1/5 the work and effort.

Also, in the above pictures, the suspension was in full droop with the calvert shocks on it. I only set the shocks up to have about 1" or 1-1/2" of shock showing at ride height.

The downward travel of the suspension is very limited. I still have about 1" of adjustment on the lower brackets that I can lower the body of the shock down and extend the shock out if necessary. I was going to wait until the engine and trans are in the car to see how all this stuff shakes out.

With the Calvert bars, when launched the rear end will separate from the body. So 80% of the shock movement is extension.

New shocks and leaf spring sliders are complete now. I'm starting to run low on miscellaneous to-do's. I might install my dummy block and mount up the trans so I can handle trans cooler stuff next.

Mike it looks like that blue piston is bigger. It looks stronger

Yes, mine came with a longer piston, so we modified them both so we could interchange pistons. So you can see each of them now have 2 mounting locations.

Thanks guys, I will check them out.  Very odd bottom leg design, ever have anything it won't fit under?

Fits pretty well between the tires on a Mustang. I imagine if you had a more narrow car you were working on it would require you to take the tires off.

Bob and I both have a Blue Bird/Kaydee engine hoists. Commonly you'll find the 1500 model, ours are the 1200. Only difference is the arm and leg length, being slightly longer they decrease the capacity rating a bit. If you can find one I think they're great. Can be torn down and stored.

Clint, have you seen this?

It's on the east side of DIA, the land literally shares a fence with DIA. If they rebuild the track as part of this development it would be wonderful for me. At work I received the drawing set for the site civil construction, so it sure seems to me that it's all moving forward.

Do you drive the car over long distance? Like burn a full tank during the afternoon run and then pull off the highway and sit in a line of traffic? What kind of performance does it give?

I've driven it on cruise night which is basically a standstill of old cars in August. After installing the fan setup I haven't had trouble with it getting above 180 or so (it has a 160 stat). Prior to this it had a factory 7 blade fan with a shroud and it wouldn't keep up. If you stopped moving the temp would climb and never slow down.

When I put those on the Cougar I did a 150A alternator at the same time. A quick alternator change can't hurt...

Joe, this is the setup we run on the Cougar and on the 68 Mustang drag car. They put out a ton of air. I believe you can order this same setup without the fan relay kit, but the relay kit makes it easy to wire. On the cougar I relocated the relay to the bottom side of the shroud and you can't see it at all.

With both fans running this setup will sweep my barn floor for me.

I added a page on our website to document this project and get all pictures in one place. If you'd like to take a look, here's the link:

Awesome, great to have options

When will they be available and what is the intake port volume? especially the MR

Ross, right now the port volume is 200cc. The cast/production version will have a little different guide vein around the valve guide that will eat some of that up, so say 190-195cc? When designing the port height/width we told Dave that 90% of the FE street/strip engines are built with the 4.25" aftermarket cranks.

Combustion chamber volume is 66.5cc.

We're doing everything in our power to have these things available March/April. It's been a slow process and we'd like to get it finally complete.

Thanks, I'll look into this! A jack pad under there would be nice.
