Lots of detailed photos of the machining and build also
videos of this 9 sec Stang would be cool.
Why not do a cam change and dyno it again to match the gears now?
When did you build this engine?
It's your small block ad on the fepower.net. ::)
You are always light on detail. :)

Some confusion. You sold this customer an engine/cam that does not work well
with their transmission gearing and it's the customers fault?

When I was in the Navy I ran a machine that had 30 oil cups.
To be filled daily or as required. :)

So there is some more news about this bellhousing.
It comes with the block plate and hardware.
It also should have better ground clearance than a SFI Quicktime.
It does not have the lip for the bolts on the bottom.
The Lakewood is 1 3/16" closer to the road than a stock bell and inspection cover.
And it's like wedge digging in when they hit.
I am talking myself out of that Lakewood more and more. ::)

Interesting. The one I have is excellent.
Probably one of the nicest body parts on my car. You would have to see my car up close. :)
I have had it going really fast and it does not shake or flutter.
It's super light and fits great.
I'd have to give it a A+ rating.

With Broader and Speedmaster in the news, I know Speedmaster also sells cheap Top Loader parts.
A Speedmaster input is $89 on ebay and a DKT input is $179 from them.
That's a big jump, but I think the quality is there to justify the price difference.
I built Red Strip using DKT shaft's and parts.
Costs more but for years of hard use, well worth the investment.
DKT marks their shafts for id.
The light switch is holding on.
I'm going to adjust the rods a bit.

Maier Racing used to make teardrops for Mustangs.
Not sure if they still do, but the teardrop on my 68 is a Maier fiberglass hood.
I've had it for a long time.

I've been cleaning and measuring a Lakewood Bellhousing.
The most significant measurement is the depth to the road.
The Lakewood is 1 3/16" closer to the road.
That's a lot when you don't have much and right in the middle of the crown.

I'm not sure were this 9 O clock thing is coming from.
This is a 66 cast Z bell and a Lakewood.
I would say 8 O clock is correct.

A few things are happing with the seals.
The stock umbrella seal when new hugs the valve stem and rides down and up
with the action of the valve. The oil that cascades down from the rocker is defected by the
umbrella. When the seal gets old and hard it does not ride the stem anymore and sits on
top of the guide and this allows the oil to seep past into the chamber.
When you are going down hill and using the engine brake that allows the oil to accumulate
on top of the head. This is also when you have high vacuum in the intake runners.
You could be sucking oil in from a intake gasket also.
When doing a cold start all the oil has drained away and you are doing a dry start.

Probably good to follow his advice.
Stock umbrella will be the ones.
They go hard and brittle after a while. 20,000 miles is a while.

The stock 390 used a rubber umbrella seal. Works good stock.
There are some positive lock seals to fit a stock guide, Mahle I think.
What heads do you have and what do the guides look like?

I put an AEM in that I got on sale at Amazon.
I think the big deal is get a good O2 sensor. Bosch is the good one.
I seen 13.2 at cruise speed then broke the rocker shaft
watching what would happen when I repeatedly kept going to 6000 rpm.
It goes lower than 13.2 ::)

The oil was changed.
Also the bearings were pulled out of their holes.
The bearings are new?
The bearings are 30 years old?
The bearings are from the 60's?
When ever I pull an old bearing I always think, it's not going to like me molesting it. ::)

The case and/or the gasket could be just a tad thicker and pushed the yoke out a bit.
That could also add to a vibration.
That pushes the wheels out at the front and in at the back.
Does not take much to put a vibration in at high speed.
