Posting this just so the information is out there . I wasnt able to find anything other then a blurb on an obscure forum saying that the box will not work with a FE mustang. A conversation with JBA yielded a little more info that they had indeed modified a set of their headers to go on a 390 mustang some years back but didnt pursue making it a thing.
This Box has a good ratio and its a power box so it removes all of that nastyness from under the car . You simply use all manual steering parts to get it hooked up . I am using an electric Ford/Volvo power steering pump on it and although the car hasnt been driven yet it steers pretty easy sitting here on an epoxy floor with most of the weight on it.
As for the exhaust....... Well I looked at how many sets exit that port and I dont believe there is a set out there production wise that will bolt on. Ive never had any stock CJ manifolds but I highly doubt that will work as well given what you can see here in this pic.
Will have to put some time into this tube as well as mill this 3/8 flange a bit but I think its doable . You can slide the engine back some if you have the adjustable engine mounts but if you do with power brakes that ends the possibility of you using very tall valve covers. I have a set of Jays covers on there now and I can maybe go back 1/4" .
I may end up removing the box and milling as much material off that boss as I can as well as the 1/4" scoot...
In short , the box will go and it will work. But not without some pains... Personally I cannot stand the factory power steering setup or the ratios that come with it so I guess its worth it...
