Non-FE Discussion Forum / Radio Bluetooth Conversion
« on: October 26, 2020, 10:09:42 PM »
I have been looking for companies that do vintage radio conversions, thinking about putting new guts in my Galaxies old radio. I can search and find about 5-10 companies that say they can do this. My question, has anybody done this and can you recommend a company you were happy with?

Here are just a few a quick google search finds:

FE Technical Forum / '63 Galaxie SOHC Installation
« on: September 02, 2020, 10:25:46 PM »
My dad and I were BSing tonight and got to talking about potential modifications necessary to make a SOHC fit into a '63. I just did some internet searching and can't really find anyone that has chronicled the installation. Is this a pretty straightforward deal? Any steering components or suspension components that require some hacking?

FE Engine Dyno Results / BP 428CJ Stroker - 465 Cubes
« on: August 25, 2020, 11:48:32 PM »
Today was the day that the 428 Stroker for my Galaxie was dyno'd. I don't get any credit for the engine, this one was all Blair. I had a good idea of what I wanted for the '62 and Blair guided me into a recipe that he thought would make me happy....originally this engine was going to be topped with a 3x2 carb setup and C0AE-D heads but here's where we got to:

By the way, a personal thanks to Blair for being so patient with me, answering all my questions, and teaching me a ton along the way.

Performance Summary:
  • Cubic Inches: 465    Peak Horsepower: 629 HP @ 5900 RPM    Peak Torque: 616 @ 4700 RPM
Engine Specifications:
  • Block brand: Ford C-scratch CJ 428, .050" over
  • Crankshaft brand: SCAT cast 4.25 stroke
  • Connecting Rods: 6.7"
  • Pistons: CP
  • Oil Pump: Melling, corrected by Greeley Automotive Machine
  • Oil Pan: Moroso 7 Quart w/ windage tray
  • Cam: Bullet hydraulic roller cam, slightly under .600" lift measured at valve, 110 lobe centers
  • Lifters: Crower HIPPO solid rollers
  • Cylinder Heads: C4AE-G, CNC ported with matching port job to Blair's EMC entry
  • Rocker Arms: T&D single shaft
  • Intake manifold: Performer RPM
  • Carb: Blairs EMC dyno carb

Blue line shows long tube dyno headers, red line is a test with Tri-Y headers (because I'll be running Tri-Y's in the car)

Private Classifieds / 62 Galaxie Tach Brackets
« on: June 11, 2020, 09:42:37 AM »
I had our neighbor machine me a bracket so I could get my SW tach to work in my car, he offered to machine some more if people are interested. I have only tested this on my car, '62 4 speed, and it has not been tested on an auto car. I'm not sure if it will work on an auto or not, it will definitely not work on a column shift car because the top tube has to rotate.

Going to sell them for $115 shipped. If you would like one please email me at mbrunson427@gmail.com so I can keep everything organized there.

Private Classifieds / SOLD - C0AE Shorty Exhaust Manfolds
« on: June 03, 2020, 03:46:19 PM »
I have a set of early shorty exhaust manifolds that will not be used on our Starliner project. Rather than let them set on the shelf for eternity I figured we'd let them head down the road and actually get used by someone. No broken or repaired ears. They have already been high temp coated in a cast grey color. The exhaust flange faces have been machined flat, these should be good to bolt on, no other work required.

Price: $800 + shipping

Member Projects / As If There Wasn't Enough To Do...67 Mustang
« on: May 25, 2020, 06:40:15 PM »
Took the '67 Mustang on a cruise 3 weekends ago, turned the corner and spun it up in 2nd gear, about 4000 rpm and something went wrong. I thought initially that the little Pertonix pickup ring popped up or something, it has happened before. Looked through everything and came up empty handed...got the car towed home. Pulled the valve covers off and noticed that the back two rocker arms were doing nothing at all. Broken cam. All had to come apart.

Got it apart yesterday, here's some pictures.

FE Engine Dyno Results / BP Truck Application 469FE

It's a 469 cube 428 stroker. BBM heads, performer RPM intake. 537 peak hp, 633 peak tq. Blair can fill in more details.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Denver Convention Center Makeshift Hospital
« on: April 19, 2020, 11:59:58 AM »
Not FE or car related whatsoever....but something I'm pretty proud of. The company I work for was selected to help build out the Denver Convention Center into a makeshift hospital in the event that hospital facilities become inundated with patients. This is a big convention hall, so they didn't have near enough sinks or showers to meet healthcare minimums. Those white sink stations we built 112 of them and the shower modules we built 12 of them....in 2-1/2 weeks. I wasn't involved at all in the shower modules, I was dealing with the sink setups, trying to get material from anywhere we could as fast as we could. All of these units house their own electric water heaters because domestic hot water wasn't available, only domestic cold water. Sink stations had to be powder coated with an antimicrobial white product.

It sounds like the facility will be in place through the fall at minimum. Whether or not you think this whole deal is an overreaction or over-hyped is a whole separate discussion (and becoming increasingly political), I'm just proud to be part of pulling together such an undertaking.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / CoronaCruise
« on: April 11, 2020, 06:04:40 PM »
This week we all decided to get out of the house and cruise some old cars around today. Surprising at how quickly all of our friends agreed. My cousin Jeanine works on the ICU floor at the local hospital so we took a drive by there and had a quick parade through the parking lot. People waving out the windows, it was pretty neat. We had never done a cruise like this, every single person said when we got back "why haven't we ever done this before". I guess it's because coronavirus had everybody available to.

FE Technical Forum / Glidden '65 Galaxie
« on: March 28, 2020, 10:28:17 PM »
I know there are quite a few Ford historians that frequent here. Wondering if anybody has some better pictures of Bob Glidden's 65 Galaxie. I've done a bunch of different internet searches and they all seem to yield the same 4 pictures.

Private Classifieds / WTB 60-64 Radiator - Manual Trans
« on: March 20, 2020, 10:55:49 AM »
Looking for a 60-64 Galaxie radiator with super nice end tanks. Not concerned about the fins or anything because I'm going to have the local radiator shop put a new core in it anyhow, I'm mostly worried that the end tanks are really nice (the one I have looks like it was beat with a sledge). Will need it shipped to CO (80621).

« on: March 15, 2020, 11:24:47 PM »
This weekend I was successfully able to use the coronaviris threat as an excuse for my fiance and I to spend some time in the shop buffing and waxing the Cyclone  ;D
My Dad and Uncle changed the water pump out while we put some work into the paint.
In the future I think this will end up with a big cubic inch, low rpm FE. For now we're just keeping it on the road so it can be enjoyed.
Next week I'm taking a set of 14x6 wheels to the painter to be painted body color. We have a set of dog dish wheel covers to throw on it and some "Wide-O-Oval" G70 tires to put on it.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Funny Coincidence.....made it into a video
« on: March 09, 2020, 11:01:02 PM »
My fiance and I went to Cars and Coffee Saturday morning, took the '67 Mustang. There was a guy that we parked near that had a super clean survivor '64 Galaxie Wagon. I talked to him for a bit, and actually maybe made a deal on a 390 engine I have in the barn. This video popped up on Youtube and I said hey that's the guy we were talking to!! Then I realized that we pulled in right as they were filming the video. 2:15 is where we pull past. Kinda funny.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Rod Length Discussion - Engine Masters
« on: March 02, 2020, 01:49:06 PM »
I'm sure some of you have Motor Trend On Demand. The only reason I pay for it is the engine masters show. Most recent episode is one that we have kicked around on this forum quite a bit.... rod length.

I found it very interesting. The one thing I never heard stated is what the bobweight of each piston/rod assembly was. I'm curious if some of the effects seen were a product of bobweight rather than rod length?

If you haven't seen it, spoiler.......there was darn near zero difference in engine performance.
