Since Mike is pretty busy and I just rediscovered my password here I figured I'd post an update on his build..... (Hope I don't piss him off  ;D )

Mike was hoping for 11:50's , first time out at maple grove the car ran 10.95, took car home and put a rollbar and good belts in, Next time out car ran 10.98 @119 before blowing a head gasket between 5 and 6  :( , pulled it apart and reassembled it with Cometics, and was rewarded with a 10.84 @119 at MIR last weekend. Car hooks great and consistently pulls an 18-24" wheelstands. Not bad for a 3400 lb wagon running ported C6AE-R iron heads.

Mike should be proud as he put a ton of time and effort into this car ....

Been trying to post on this forum for ages, just figured out my password  ???

Thanks for the ton of effort you put into this testing and sharing the data   ;D

Anyway If you plan on retesting your 3D printed manifold I have another manifold you can try, It's a factory D1ZX-FA manifold with a 4150/4160 carb flange.(no Idea why ford made it but it's factory ....)

Also have a D1ZX-DA (dual plane 4150 flange) , and a Bud Moore box with a factory dominator top

All the Bud Moore maxi plenums I've seen have that divider added under the top. since these are so terrible with a carb, I wonder if it's worth doing an EFI conversion on one ....

Let me know if you want to borrow any of these ...

FE Technical Forum / C4AE-B cam spec's
« on: April 18, 2014, 01:01:58 AM »
I'm in the process of gathering the final parts for my 427 build, and have an NOS C4AE-B cam and lifters. I seem to find varying specs on this cam, and I'm not sure If it's worth using in my build. (cam was purchased from ford in 1970, not HM)

Here's my build so far,

427 S.O. Block, .017 over, somewhere around 10.5/1 CR (haven't ordered pistons yet), stock steel crank and lemans rods, MR heads that have been fairly extensively ported (professionally, but in 1970, no flow numbers yet), Dougs D627 headers ( 2" primarys), Induction will be either a tunnel wedge or factory MR 2x4 intake with either BT/BU or AC/AD carbs ( have both manifolds and both sets of carbs). I initially planned on a stock stroke build, but now I'm leaning towards a 4.250 crank.

The car, 1968 Mustang FB, 4 speed (2.78 1st gear big in and out), 9" currently with 4.30 gears, caltrac bars/springs, 3250 lbs w/stock 390.

Car will see some street duty, but mostly 1/4 mile Drag racing, really don't want to go nuts with a roll bar so I'm kinda limited to 11.50's

Thoughts, comments, ???

Thank's in advance, John

FE Technical Forum / Re: FT vs FE distributor TACH drive needed
« on: March 31, 2014, 02:38:01 PM »
If I remember correctly, last year the Dearborn Steel Tubing guys had a factory tach drive distributor (SK numbered if my memory serves me correctly) maybe give them a call and see if they still have it.

I'd just find an Accel dual point Tach Drive FE distributor and use that, It will be a lot easier to get a cable, tach. ect. Than the ultra rare ford unit. ( I think pertronix even makes a conversion for it...)

Vendor Classifieds / Re: FE Intake Adapters
« on: March 04, 2014, 11:09:06 AM »
Hi Jay, just got my adapter and it looks awesome  ;D     ;D      ;D ,

For those still waiting... The casting quality, machine work, and finish are top notch, It's really a beautiful part. I gotta thank you for taking this project on, supplying a really useful (and really cool) first rate part, and charging WAY less than the part should cost..
(You'd be hard pressed to rent 16 hours of CNC mill time with an operator in my area (Philadelphia, PA) for what your selling the whole adapter for....)
Now I just have to decide what to bolt on top of it...   Leaning towards either a D1ZX-FA single plane and keeping it all ford, or a Hilborn setup converted to EFI.  I have several Boss 302 Hilborn setups, one I machined the center out of to widen for a 351C, I could just bolt each half to the adapter. ( The nice thing about this setup is that the Boss 302 Hilborn manifolds are pretty cheap when you find them, as there isn't a big demand anymore for injected B302's, and there's a lot out there as the circle track guys used to run them)

Anyway, Thank's again for an AWESOME part.      John

BTW, you should have some decent FE Power, LLC decals made, raise the price 10.00, and throw 2 in the box. Then you'll start seeing your name on the side of a bunch of racecars, and get some recognition.....

What process is the factory molded by?

Yep, Die Cast

Die Casting a part that big = REALLY expensive tooling   :o

Yeah they do fit stangs but better get the sawzall  and BFG out LOL

Are you putting them on a comet or a mustang? I want to use these on my 68 mustang, but I don't want to cut the factory reinforced towers
