rocker oil restriction idea
« on: May 27, 2017, 06:11:08 PM »
i just had an idea that might help restrict oil to the rockers.is the hole in the tins the same size as the hole in the bottom of the rocker stand.what if you use the tins with a smaller hole in them.wouldnt it restrict oil to the rockers.just an idea that came to me while working on my comet today.if the tins holes are small enough wouldnt it cut back on the flow.has anyone all ready done that, would it work.ok,big boys, give me an answer, maybe ican try it instead of putting jets in the oil hole

There is no oil hole in the tins, just the hole for the stud/bolt, which allows oil to flow past and up the stud/bolt passage. It would be pert near impossible to restrict flow there.

How would you make the hole smaller? It's thin sheetmetal, so you're not going to weld it. No reason to re-invent the wheel when there are several other easily done options that would work much better, and have better control over the flow.

nothing wrong with thinking out of the box , we would not have a whole lot if we didn't have thinkers and tinkers .

i guess if someone used shims under the stands with a hole so small that it would have to be screwed on the threaded part of the rocker bolt it should restrict some compaired to the bigger holes in the stock tins and rocker stands.i know it was a dumb idea, but when i have a problem i try to think of everything i can

x2, It's never dumb to ask questions or come up with ideas. Some of them just don't work well is all  :)
