Title: 390 GT
Post by: djburton on June 27, 2022, 08:35:03 AM
Let's say a 68,69 Fairlane,Torino S code GT 4 speed car...What would you expect to receive, engine and trans wise, with the GT option that would be different than a standard 390?

Holley 600 CFM carb replacing the Autolite carb; GT cam and valve springs; GT exhaust manifolds causing the exhaust bolt pattern to be different; air cleaner had an open element; distributor had a different curve; I don't recall which intake manifold was used on the GT - this may vary by year.

Same 10.5 compression ratio so the pistons, short block were common to both.  Valve sizes were the same.

Thanks! I did see somewhere that the flywheel on the GT was different that standard 390 but can't seem to find it again.

The GT flywheel is drilled for the bigger clutch.  That's it.
