Watched a $5000 race in LA in '91 with a Datsun B210 running a Mazda rotary against Nova with a dragster-type mech F.I. on a blower (BDS?), both sprayed VHT type mixtures about forty or fifty foot down the road

I understand Jay's enthusiasm for "street outlaws" since his cars fit the same recipe for fast street cars. It's a cool line to build a street car that doubles as a race car. I don't understand those of you upset with NHRA for policing it's members involved in "outlaw" drag racing/street racing. NHRA's roots were forged in getting cars racing on the track and off the street. No If's, And's or But's the show promotes/glorifies street racing no matter if parts are faked or not. There's a significant number of young men that are very impressionable to racing on the streets.

More then that to me the worst kind of street racing is the Hard Core stuff when full all out race cars are raced on the street.. Heck you tell me how much more complicated/dangerous is racing a 9 or 10 second race car on a public road vs a sanctioned track?.....When you have a full race car you really need to run it on a track, when it's done with crowds of spectators forming human guard rails the potential of bad things happening go exponential.

I guess Dave doesn't want to be confused with Larson.

Awwww, why so hurt?  Their supercharged/turbo'd dedicated race cars are obviously faster than anything I mess with for a variety of reasons (one being my main goals aren't to race).  That doesn't make the show any less BS.  I'd watch it more if it wasn't for the drama and made up story line to try to draw you in.

Personally I think the coolest race show was PassTime.  I think that was a really neat show to watch.

Exactly
Since the show has become popular their checks must be getting better.
I'm sure they get deals through or because of the show, but geez, can you imagine what the Crow costs?
All in all, I'm a fan of the show. Hell of a lot more fun than watching, uh, just about anything else.
Don't care if it's scripted, don't care if it's on closed safe roads. It's still drag cars gettin' it on.

The "fat guy yelled" comment is hilarious.
