I don’t care what it is, or where it came from. It’s a very cool find.  If Ford in fact installed that engine at the factory, it makes it even cooler.  My only wish for you, is you restore it, and do a burnout.

I know squat about these cars, but. If you blow up the pic of the engine bay it appears to have a hole in the left shock tower at the upper manifold bolt.
Does that match what the factory 427 cars had according to anyone that has a original says ?
I hope it's real.

Ricky, another place to look for a change from a stock Fairlane is under the hood.  On a car with a steel hood the center of the hood bracing underneath has a cutout to fit the 2X4 air cleaner.  The cutout has a stamped insert spot welded over it.

The hole in the shock tower towards the front looks like the ones Ford made.  That is, they looked like they were torch cut by hand and pretty crude.

Btw the 427 Fairlane FB page has a member named Don Antilla.  He has a an original '66 and is considered to be an authority on the '66 and '67 427 cars.

That is a good sign if it looks like it has been there for awhile.

I understand your frustration. Most guys are trying to help, but there is those that will never give the benefit if it isn't there's. Hopefully you find some information on it.

The pictures of the shock towers are from my 67 R-code and not from the car in the discussion.
