I saw a heads up on Facebook today, Holley has the 660 Center Squirters for sale cheap on the Holley website right now. I know a few people were concerned last time it looked like they discontinued them, then they came back, who knows this time. Anyway, excellent price.

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought two. Hard to resist at that price
-
Looks like they sold out.
-
Dang I wish I had seen this when you posted it. That's a heck of a price!
-
I bought 10 lol

I was going to.... sadly I just had a big purchase like hours before. I got 2 anyway.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Holley emailed me and said they canceled my order because of limited quantity. It showed that they had 96 left when I placed my order.
Oh well, I hope you other guys get yours.

Canceled your entire order? That sucks. I wish I had gotten in on the deal, but I was just giving you a hard time. I hope the others get theirs also.

Yep, entire order. Bunch of jack legs.

Seems like the folks that ordered 2 are getting them, and all the folks ordering large amounts got cancelled.
*shrugs*
I had 8 sets of carbs fully restored, just needing assembly and testing, and the customers cancelled due to this. I also have a pile of 660 center squirter cores that I was going to restore, had customers lined up, and are now they are going to sit on the shelf for 2-3 years, if not longer before I can find someone wanting them.
In total I lost $6k in sales overnight for work I'd already done, and am sitting on another $5k in inventory for who knows how long because of this "sale."
But hey.... bonus part, I bought two brand new 660's for $400
-
Sorry to hear about that Drew, and don't get me started on cancellations. I've got a brand new set of my pentroof valve covers here with "FAIRLANE" script custom engraved on them, and the customer bailed on me. I hate the idea of taking money up front from people, but stuff like this makes me think twice...
-
Well, much like yourself, I don't do this for a living..... so it isn't too hard to swallow.
In regards to these cancellations, I don't mind one bit, heck the majority of those customers I sent the link to them.
It wouldn't be right for them to pay $800 for something from me when they can buy the same parts brand new for $400.
I don't take money up front either. My view is that I hold all the cards until I ship their product. Plus with my wild schedule, I wouldn't feel right having someone's parts, AND their money if I got shipped off for two months.
-
Drew, does this mean you'll be running a sale to compete with Holley? If so, sign me on ;D ;)
-
I ordered two the other night. Got an email today that my order was cancelled. >:( I wonder who is ACTUALLY getting one?

Well, I've got 4 sets of 600's that are not spoken for now. I think I do more 2x4 600's than anything, did I think 20 sets last year, they seem to work really well. I'm not too worried, they'll find a home in the next month or two. Just trying to get them assembled and tested, then they can sit.
Best one of the year tho, a fella built a 40k+ engine and wanted me to build custom 780's. Seemed a good idea considering the engine was like 530ci. Anyway, he backed out because he could save some money by running two street avengers. I wonder how that worked out :P :P :P

You will never hear about it. The next carb guy he decides to order from after it underperforms will hear about it.
As for the 660s - - "running out of stock" is corporate code for "we screwed up on the price"...

Could anybody remind me why the 660 is so much more desirable than a 750DP or Ultra or whatever? Thanks.

660's can mount inline on a stock 2x4 Ford intake. For such a mounting arrangement, they are hard to beat.
-
Any idea how more power they make on said 2x4 over worked 600's?
-
Obviously it would depend on the engine.
That said, I've known a few with 800-900hp engines that claim nothing is faster, and they've tried them all. *shrugs* it's all beyond my budget.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I'll have a set of these new 660's here tomorrow, and can compare the calibration with the original ones to see if they are on the same level. I'll especially be interested in the emulsion tubes, as they haven't made the originals since the 1960's, the later tubes are vastly different.

Is there any reason sideways-mounted DP's would not outperform 660's?

Back when Jay was dyno testing intakes for his book I think there were a couple intakes he tested with both the 660 Center Squirters and a pair of BJ/BK Holley 600’s, and if I remember the 660’s won out. They probably wouldn’t qualify as “worked” 600’s though. Maybe Jay will see this post & comment.
