Lincoln Brakes
« on: December 21, 2016, 04:11:49 AM »
Not sure if this is technical or non FE  but kind of technical.
In the 80s i did some work on a early 60s Lincoln Continental
As i remember it, It had Aluminium Brakedrums Any one knows
If you can fit them to a 64 Galaxie spindle?
Think they should look good behind my AR TQ Thrusts
The thunderbird is built on the Lincoln and as i remember it.
They have same brakes as the Fulsize ford. Right me if im wrong

Yes  i want to stay with the drumbrakes. I have a
complete disc kit if i want that. But the drums
with the right shoes and the Volvo booster is
more than i need. And dont want the discs to
show throught the rims.Thought some finned
aluminium drums would look good behind the
American Racing torque thrusts

I found pictures of the spindles The Lincoln
spindle have four holes for the backing plate
the Ford have two plus the big upper hole
so the brakes dont fit the spindle.
Question is does the lincoln spindle fit the
Galaxie front end? And does the lincoln have
a regular nine inch rear?

Some of those old Lincoln rear ends were 9 3/8 inch , totally different .. I went opposite of you , i went with vintage wheel works type 45 s in 17 inch and put 13 inch drilled and slotted 03-04 cobra brakes on the front , and 12 inch drilled and slotted in the rear with red calipers on all 4 corner s ..
