Moved 427 Project to main shop months ago and finally got back on it a couple weeks ago! It will be 18yrs since I drove it last on Feb 1st.
In order to finish this project I sold one of my 1966 Ecoboost trucks (still 2 left)
I opened a absolute can of worms trying to make a few changes.
1) I was dead set on using the wheels back in post #55
2) I wanted bigger brakes. the 73-79 disc upgrade was just not going to cut it
3) More specific Baer 14" Pro 6 Piston @ all for corners (3600lbs and a blip of throttle needs to be able to slow down/stop)
4) Always wanted to use a GV OD on that CJ-C6
5) At the time I built rear diff did not have the $ to add a 31 spline. Just added a posi to stock 28 Upgraded to nodular case, daytona retainer 31 Spline
6) 4340 Chromemoly 31 spline axle upgrade.
7) Can O Worms starts here. Large brakes a minimum of 18" wheel is needed
18" wheels (post 55) could not be made in 5 x 5 1/2" bolt pattern
9) Switch to 5 x 4 1/2" bolt pattern meant custom Hubs for the large brakes/custom axles for rear
10) The dropped 3" front I beams had to go to allow for proper wheel fitment as the dropped tie rod piece would not clear for proper offset on 8" wheel
So, I pretty much started over on suspension, brakes, axles, diff and added the GV OD.
Tires are Continental Extreme Contact Sport 285/40ZR18 rear and 245/45ZR18 Front
Wheels a Schott one off to look like Halibrands . . (its only wheel I really liked to go with rest of truck)
