69 Torino Cobra front sway bar bushings?
« on: April 24, 2021, 09:55:08 AM »
Restoring a clone 69 Torino Cobra formal roof car. I will be using correct 15/16ths front sway bar and two piece drop brackets. Can anyone give me part number ( good aftermarket number ) for correct bushing? I've tried what Moog had listed, did not work. So, I just randomly matched up some Moog bushings which are close. Well, with two piece bracket in place with bushings on the bar, there will be a little squeeze but not much. When I slam the original part number into the system ( C9OZ5493A), most listings come back as indirect. When I check old MPC, doesn't look like this bushing was used for much other than 69 Torino with 15/16ths bar. So, I imagine most companies condensed the part number to something close to the originals? I'll use what I have if I must, but, any thoughts would be appreciated. I do not wish to go with an aftermarket bar and brackets. Thx!

I just typed in "15/16" sway bar bushing", and google turned up a whole page of them.  Might give it a try.  Joe-JDC

This the one that I ordered. Have not installed it yet and it is not an original rubber... Probably better!

If '69 Torinos share the same bushings as Mustangs, these bushings from Dead-Nut-On could work.

Ford service number:  C9ZZ-5493-A

I used this on the Boss 302 15/16" sway bar on my '68 Fastback. The fitment was perfect.

Just bought  C9ZZ-5493-A myself...  The urethane bushings measure just shy of 15/16 but you have to really compress them with the bracket for them to bite against the sway bar.  I have a 15/16" sway bar, and it is dangerously close to the damper, so I'm spacing it down ever so slightly.
