Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: 7,3 gasser in new F600
« on: December 03, 2021, 04:58:04 PM »
There are versions of the 7.3 gas north of 1600 hp already.  Twin Turbo, Roots style blowers, even a procharger making 850 on a stock engine.

Tempted to drop one in my 1966 N700 Crew Cab

Looking good Jay! Can't wait to see it done.

Looking at google earth the other day realized you are only about 1 mile away from my sister in law and have driven by your place without realizing that!

Beautiful job on the truck and with that much power it should be a ball to drive.

Thanks Tom!
Still trying to get used to the power so gotta have it pointed straight and rolling 30+
Before I squeeze throttle much. Boost is instant at even small % throttle.
Makes so much TQ well before 2000 rpm.
Time to air down tires and do more Testin’

You must have axle wrap and suspension chatter like nobody's business. Can you keep it in the same lane on a full-on shift?

KS

Would love to put a camera under it. First WOT on 91 it chattered quite a bit but i had
Not installed clamps on springs yet.
Now its mostly that pesky 4.696 1st gear when tires are trying to hook.
Plan is to soften power in first. 6000 rpm in first is 31 mph.
After that it hooks extremely well.
Bit of datalog and tweaking tune.
If i drop tire air pressure to 35 its good. 42 psi on colder morning under 60 deg
Not so much!
Next up is datalog 3rd gear from 2000-6000 rpm. 21-61 mph
Nice thing is it can be tuned to hook.
Still would like a better spring in rear with some type traction bar

Being a 56 yr old truck with twin i beam i added huge race type swaybar up front
Along with a 16:1 box drives a lot better than 1 would think.

The huge Baer 14” 6p brakes on all 4 corners helps too so i can stop it.

we did back to back runs and 2nd run was 657.64 TQ @ 3467 RPM and HP was 599.99 @ 5702 RPM.
TQ within .56 and the HP was within 2.94

Shows the intercooler and cooling system doing the proper job.

These "Slight" mods from stock.

I bought a direct replacement Garrett intercooler as had much better fitment than OEM Plastic piece

I have same exhaust as was on the 482 FE. It's 3" from engine back I made out of 304 Stainless
The mufflers are DynoMax Ultra Stainless Round 3"
Running 2018 F150 stock CATS
100% of engine as delivered in crate from Ford Performance
It still has stock OEM Air Filter too!
Originally the F150 had a ram air type inlet. I made one out of a Aluminum driveshaft that goes thru core support into stock airbox
Fuel System: I built my own Aluminum 27 gallon tank and used a new Raptor OEM pump adding in all to make it Emissions Compliant with Capless Filler

Other than that Tune Only to make this kind of power but yet have 600 rpm idle perfect road manners and MAJOR TQ at about any small amount of throttle
10R80 Automatic and am running stock '66 9" with a N case 3.50 gear and 31 spline axles
I plan on switching over to a 3.00 rear gear as 1st gear being 4.696 is very low with the low profile tires (27")

Hooks pretty good after 2nd gear in warmer weather with the 285/40-18 tires on a 10" wheel

Be nice to have some type of traction bar as have the stock 6 cyl springs in rear.

wow very nice i love that truck.

Holy ×#@%+ Batman, that's a superman truck. Beautiful truck and unbelievable power.

Awesome, Love 6 bangers!

garyv

Man that is awesome!  That thing is like Rhonda Rousey in lipstick and a sun dress  ;)

Very stout numbers from a beautifully engineered and built package.

It's a fun one to drive!  Thanks All!

It's taken a really long time and well beyond my paygrade stuff especially having to build my own wiring harness for the options I wanted to keep. Then hiding it all so not visible if one were to look in cab.

100% emissions legal too including CATS, Carbon Canister with all SMOG stuff installed and working. Bit tricky making my own main fuel tank and getting it all no check engine light. I even maintained a somewhat hidden capless fuel filler.

Yet have the in cab tank as a Aux tank where I can transfer up to 19 gallons to rear/main tank. 1000 miles or 100 potty stops whichever comes first.

Sounds so weird with 213 Cu In to have to dial down the power in the first couple gears but that will be up next then turn up power on high end.

I will try to post the Dyno Screen power was going for the MOON until the PCM dialed it back when TQ hit 650 ish by closing throttle like 4 different times during the 13 second run.

Best part is I am getting 25 mpg @ 60 on 91 and 20 MPG @ 60 on E51

Non-FE Discussion Forum / 2.8 hp per cu in at tire on my 1966 F100 pump gas
« on: November 10, 2021, 03:46:06 PM »
Made a trip to the dyno to test the 213 cu in 6 this morning.

E51 pump gas here in az it made 602.93 hp @ 5675 hp and 658.2 TQ @ 3467 rpm at Tire!

That was when the torque management system said that was enough and closed the throttle a few times during run.

Now back to the FE projects . . .

Of the oil pump drive shaft falling into the pan.. Last idiot in this engine did not install the retainer washer and just as the distributor was to clear the manifold it dropped out... Anyone have any clever ways to retrieve it without removing the pan or front cover?  Leave it at the bottom of the pan?

What pan are you using? I have pulled plenty out thru the drain plug hole.
