I have a Wilwood classic front disc kit (140-13476, the economy one) that got shelved on an earlier project.
Has anyone paired these with the 1970s Ford dual master cylinder (Maverick etc, manual front disc / rear drums) or know if the volume would be compatible?
It just occurred to me that (if I don't require an aftermarket master) might have the parts here to retire another single pot master cylinder.
I know it's as easy as a call to Wilwood, but I'd feel better hearing from someone who has stepped on the pedal afterward. Plus my FE project is dragging and I want to look alive here. ;D

I put the Wilwood Classic Dynalite front brake kit (140-13653) on my 63 Galaxie. I used a disc/drum master cylinder to suit a 67 Galaxie, and it works fine.

I have a Wilwood front disc kit (11" rotors with aluminum 4 piston calipers) on my 59. I am using a manual disc/drum master cylinder meant for a Maverick, and it has been fine for the 2 1/2 years that I have had the car on the road. Obviously the pedal effort is higher than a power brake equipped car, but not at all objectionable. It`s been about 6 or 7 years since I drove the car with it`s original manual 4 wheel drum setup, but I doubt that the manual disc setup is harder to press the brake pedal down, the the factory setup.

I have a full Maverick/Comet manual disk system on the Falcon - stock disks, spindles and master - and would imagine (as Roary confirms) that a Wildwood or Strange 4 piston set would work just as well on the front as the stock giant single piston calipers do. Probably better. I have Strange manual 4 piston units on the dragster rear and they stop the car fine from 126 MPH using the Strange sub-150 MPH pads. The master cylinder that feeds them is tiny with a 7/8" bore.

I've used the Maverick parts on a few projects over the years and they've been perfect.
I like the look of the Strange rear disc setup, and this (64 Fairlane) will probably get those eventually.

How about the weight savings on that setup. It sort of looks like just a nicer looking stock setup. As far as the rotor it’s probably the same, maybe the caliper and pad setup is lighter.

I was amazed how much lighter it is than the factory disc setup on my 68 Torino that I originally planned to replace. I haven't actually weighed the parts, but the calipers and brackets are so light it's feels a bit scary somehow. The rotors are a bit thinner/narrower than Ford also, I think.
I'll weight everything as I replace the drum setup on the 64 for comparison, probably next week.

The Wilwood setup ended up shaving just 1.6 pounds total from the 64 Fairlane drum brakes, according to the average of 3 measurements on an imported digital bathroom scale. I haven't checked the late 60s Ford disc setup, but I figure it's a few pounds heavier yet.
Not enough to make a real difference for any of them, but I was curious.
