Private Classifieds / Free Junk Heads/Intake From Tear Down- SCRAPPED
« on: March 11, 2019, 03:08:00 PM »
The main purpose of this is if anyone wants them to "re-purpose" before they get set aside for the scrap guys.
Around here FE parts are hard to find since there are no junkyards so I wanted to at least put these in the universe.
These are junk IMO but if you have the need/time/tools/some major will power they may be worth it to you.

Not worth shipping anywhere IMO so this likely pertains to anyone here that is local to central Arkansas

Ford FE

C8-H Heads (rust in ports and on valves, one valve hung open)
2V Intake(stock) comes with rat nest and a few acorns in water inlet #C9AE9425-B
Balancer, spacer, valley pan, front sump pan and pickup.

I can email pics on request.

Side note:

This had to be the nastiest motor I have seen internally that I have had the pleasure of digging into.  After seeing the above, three completely bent pushrods, acorns in two cylinders I was surprised that it actually spun freely.  Now I have to figure out if I am dealing with a 360 that someone put higher comp. pistons in, or refreshed 352. Hope it is a useable block since that is the reason I purchased it.

Anyway, if anyone is interested you have a week before it hits the curb.

There will be a few items that are actually in good shape, and a rebuildable 500 Holley 2V that I will list for sale in another "ad" when I can get some pics.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Running Too Cool
« on: March 11, 2019, 02:46:39 PM »
Sorry it is a Chebby but at least it isn't a three 5ichy.

Question: Has anyone every had a vehicle run to cold, will not come to operating temp and it was not thermostat related?  If so, what was the issue?

Basis:
1983 C-10 with 250 I-6.  Replaced T-stat, worked for a while, issue resurfaced, replaced T-stat again, no change.  It is possible that the these are bad units but of the 15 or so I have done over my life that would be the first.  I can even clamp the top hose mostly off and it does not help.  Gage is accurate and heat does not blow warm confirming it is not getting warm.
I am stumped unless it is a head gasket...but nothing leads me to believe the this, i.e. oil looks fine, coolant fine, no white smoke at all, purrs like a new born kitten.

Had all kinds of getting hot but never something that would stay cold.

FE Technical Forum / C-6 Bench Question
« on: January 24, 2019, 12:15:27 PM »
Finished rebuilding my C6 for the old truck. Air checks were good, clearances good, no issues with rebuild, etc.
My question is, should I be able to turn the yoke by hand in BOTH directions? It is on the bench will turn one way but not the other.  I would think this is possibly in relation to the one way rear sprag and no fluid moving through the system.  However, being the first one I have rebuilt, I wanted to ask those that have done it.  I don't want to move forward if there is an issue that can be addressed now. ???

Thanks,

FE Technical Forum / C6 Rebuild Questions-Newbie
« on: June 07, 2018, 04:32:44 PM »
I finally started on rebuilding my C6 to go behind the 445.  I have not posted much, if at all here (mainly on the other forum before the change) but had a few questions for those that have re-built their own transmissions.  What I am curious about is upgrades and differences.

By upgrades, would going to 4 pinion planetary be a "needed" move, along with sourcing an older longer splined rear hub.  I purchased Ken Collins C6 rebuild dvd for some preliminary info and he mentions some of this. Simply put, what would you do and not do?  I am not afraid to spend the funds if needed but would like to keep the budget at a minimum with the goal being reliability over heavily modified for all out performance.

Also, I am looking at the Broader Performance 500 HP rebuild kit and curious if anyone here has used it and can detail what exactly is different from a master rebuild kit? From what I read it allows stacking more clutches, servo, and shifting mods. Also curious if this kit or any, come with any of the bushings(not the thrust washers).  I am completely new at it but not afraid to try.

I have it mostly torn down and should finish in the next day or two to start inspecting parts for wear. So far no real concerning sights but I have yet to open the pump up or separate the drive groups.  Again, nothing looks too bad so far other than it being real nasty in the pan/fluid but there is still a lot to inspect.

The engine is my 445 that dyno'd at 487 HP /547 TQ.  All going in my '75 F250 4x4 and use will be a driver/occasional romp on it type of deal.  Plan is to go up to 38" tires from 35's but no bigger and keep the 4.10 ratio.  So it's big, heavy, and running around a 3.60 final drive after larger tires.

Thanks for the input.
