has anyone tried making a 671 blower intake out of one of the old 2 four single plane intakes offy made ? I am thinking maybe bolt 3/4 plate on top and mill it parallel with the top of the block , china wall , I didn't want to say china , but i guess that is what it is known as . bolt the blower to the plate . what do think , crazy ?

I have seen it done, Not with FE intakes though
A thick plate bolted on top, milled flat parallel to crank
and the intake hogged out under the blower
They run but. Don't know how well compared to a designated
blower intake

If you do some 'Net searching, this is exactly what a lot of blower shops do. Especially where true 'charger intakes are rare, like the FE, old Buicks, Oldsmobiles, etc. they use a dual intake carb manifold, chop it just as you said, mill some o-ring grooves for plate sealing and bolt-on that 3/4" to 1" aluminum plate. Just be careful not to whack too much off the intake's carb pads since dropping the blower snout too low causes distributor clearance problems....like not being able to drop it in!

Plenty of the blower guys(like BDS, Hampton, etc) have made intakes using 4 bbl or 2x4 intakes. As for air flow, I would not sweat it, it is being forced in under pressure. I remember seeing catalogs with blower plates for sale to make your own.
Blue thunder makes a spacer for making room for stock distributors on an FE. I run one with my car to run a stock distributor. I've love to have one of those fancy offset distributors, but at $900 I just don't have the budget for it.

yea , that is what I am trying to stay with a budget and 3 to 5 grand is not it . thanks for the imfo . I have an old blower off of a diesel engine , need drive and end plates to run on 390 . just build a little at a time .
