Transmission Crossmember question
« on: December 10, 2020, 12:14:49 AM »
I have what looks like a Small Block C-4, or manual transmission cross member, I am wanting to decipher the date code on it. It is 1 18 3A
Any help is appreciated.

Admin;  move if this is in the wrong place.

Thanks.

I think it is the same format as other sheet metal stampings, like body parts. I think it’s “Month Day Shift”, someone can correct that if it’s wrong. The year isn’t included. I’ve seen a couple different explanations for the last letter so I’ll leave that for someone else, but it might be the stamping plant. So if that’s correct yours would be January 18th, 3rd shift.
