Well that 'splains it ! the float adjusters wouldn't clear the air cleaner ring. I forgor about the old bowls, I have an Edsel Holley 4V that was like that. Still have it some place, It had a melted booster.

A 77 Trans Am with an MEL would be really different!

That is a pretty cool setup. If the air cleaner flanges overhang are the carbs all at different heights?
I have never had an MEL 3x2V setup but could have had one for $60 at a Main Street pawn shop back around 1980.
After thinking about it for months I went back and it was gone.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Boxing Week to you all.

Thought it might have had a Dana 80 in there and F SuperDuty straight axle.

Those universal-fit 10 lug wheels are real ugly when used with no hubcaps so I can see why you did that.

AMD seems to be high quality stuff from what i've seen of their Mopar quarters and floors.

Wow, $23,500 for the engine! Imagine what that guy would want for an SOHC.

I had to go through smog tests here with a bottle of methyl hydrate added to the gas. Retarding timing won't always he;f. T used a Holley off an 84 Mustang GT, those have annual primaries and make a clean idle and much better gas mileage than the normal 600.

 But bribery works too.

I ran one on a 302 in my Ranger because they are quiet and durable. I don't think it's enough volume for a big block, at least not enough to solve your issue.

Did a 65 Merc 427 even have those valve covers? Or did it have the Ford chrome pentroofs? That would have left extra breather caps unless they blocked the intake one.

I have to believe they were an accessory. I've had several sets that appear to be factory chrome and others that were painted that I took to the chrome shop. I've also had 58-59 baldy valve covers that appear to have been chromed back then.

I didn't see a video there but here is an onboard one.... wow. Over 300 km/hr a lot and up to 369!

Must be a real short stroke. It looks to be a 7 to 8" deck height.

And that is not the only indoor drags. They had 1/8th mile at Parc Bercy in downtown Paris in the 90's, and Anaheim Stadium had them too. There were plans for an indoor quarter mile in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia I think it was, that never got built. The indoors was to get A/C and stop blowing sand from getting on the track. One of the dragstrips in Central America, have to look it up but I think maybe El Salvador, has a roof the whole length to make shade and keep the track dry from tropical rains. Looks like a really long apartment building carport.

Ed Roth's FE Chevy is legendary. At Hot August Nights in Reno just before he passed away he had a booth selling his wares. Rat Fink dolls, paintings, etc. A  huge wind and rain storm came up suddenly and blew his EZ-Up over along with the paintings and posters. I went over to help and the heavy rain hit so I had a good 15 minutes of huddle and chat. Very cool guy and he when he found out I was an FE guy he mentioned that 55 Chevy.

Hmmm. That article says just two races, i'm sure there were more like ten. I'll dig up the emails from Bret and report back.

A 429 in a 73 is certainly unusual, wonder if that was something they did only for exported cars?
Pretty cool story.
