Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Canadian Meteor

The 61 Meteor hardtops were all "Victoria" boxtops, only the 60 got the Starliner roof. I had a 61 wagon and nobody i'd met knew of any other 61's around. Small production runs, all sold in the "rust belt" and minimal rust protection since they were made at a plant that made so many different platforms they don't have dip tanks.

The car I learned to drive in was a green 66 Fairlane with several doors. Of course being 16 and having access to wheels meant trying it out... so on long straight Westham Island Road on my way home from pea combine driving job I floored it over the couple miles I had before the old wood bridge ... speedo showed 120. I was OK with that. Less OK with the car running worse and worse all the way home and the resultant driving banishment for pushing out both head gaskets on the 289.

Had my 67 Ranchero 390 to 140, old bias ply tires and 3.25 gears.

He sure explains things very well. The pushrods are wild. I don't think tunnel port heads will accommodate those through the intake tubes.

If there is foam blocks in the fuel cell the filter is really needed.

The pictured blue ones are we rent around here. Much better than the one I have which barely reaches the center of the engine on a 64 Fairlane which is a stubby front end compared to many. It's also rated 1/5th ton when extended and i've drilled a new hole to extend it a few inches more.  Problem is I have to stand on it with an FE hanging off it or it'll topple forward. Extending the legs to straddle larger wheels would solve that and also solve the small wheels not rolling on asphalt very well and it hitting the underside of the lower control arms unless I put the tires on blocks.

The percentage of 1969 convertibles is rather high. But then 100% of the Cougars i've ever had were 1969 convertibles too. Looks like a great turnout for an October show, out west our season for shows ended a couple weeks before that.

What a great place that hotel/restaurant is. Who is the babe on the stairs ?

I am shocked they actually have Ikea in Sweden, thought those were only over here.   :P

Pretty cool to have one of the top US cars racing there, guess the sale was arranged beforehand ?
I think the same applies to Mickey Thompson's 427 powered dragster in 1963. Went to England to race and stayed there.

Take the seat back off and send it in separate packages or strapped together so it lays flat.

Done that in my Fairlane several times. Intake gasket stays on the manifold,  tip the head outward, get it over the dowels then tip it upright.

I am proud of Rory getting the 59 done (or mostly) and getting use of it because I saw it sitting for many years. It gives me incentive to work on my own stuff and perhaps be driving some of them in the short time i've got left.

I think the 71-73 Mustangs do, my Cyclone did (has it on the Wilwood prop valve now) But looking up replacement switches i'm only seeing the normal 66-up Ford one that goes over the pedal pushrod. My Cyclone has a welded tab behind the pedal and i've worked on another  Ford like that, perhaps both switched by some GM goof who worked on them?

It's very impressive you get 400 cars there. The Maritime rust capital of the world surprises me that there are so many nice old cars. I think here in BC they just weren't as well cared for so there's more attrition.
