This may be a stupid question but can I run the solid setup on a cam designed for hydraulic?

If you're meaning everything you have, but not actual solid lifters, then the answer is yes. Many people prefer the adjustability, although it's not necessary on hydraulic systems as long as proper pushrod length is established.
