FE Technical Forum / Oil pan for chassis car?
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:32:37 PM »
What oil pan would you guys recommend for a chassis car?  No crossmember at pan area to worry about a front or rear sump.  Who makes a nice pan?  Ground clearance may come into play as the car will be fairly low to the ground.

Thanks!!

Member Projects / My '68 FE Falcon build....
« on: October 15, 2013, 07:36:58 PM »
Well a 20 year old project that has been sitting 17+ years is now starting to head in the right direction.  It's a project LONG past due, derailed by self employment, marriage, child and divorce.  Now it is finally time to get back to work on this neglected project.

My plans for this '68 Falcon consist of having some updates done to the chassis and to be certified to 8.50's.  FE powered of course, force fed with a ProCharger F2 w/EFI. Blair Patrick will be performing his magic on this engine build.  Gear selection will be performed by a Lenco ST1200 5 speed.

I have started collect parts for this build and talking to a few people that are going to help me meet my goals.  I also have a lot to learn as this build is far above any other builds. I have done in the past.  Should be an exciting journey.  I will post updates as the project progresses.

Here is a few of the parts I have gathered so far:

FE Technical Forum / Centrifugal supercharger for the FE...
« on: August 03, 2013, 11:58:07 PM »
Now I'm taking a look into Centrifugal supercharger for my drag car.  Have seen guys using gear driven units.  Looking for someone that builds the gear driven mounts that would work on an FE.  I am going to contact the Supercharger Store and see if they make one.  Seems they are big on ProChargers stuff.  If anyone knows of any leads or places to contact it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking to make around 1200hp with the supercharger. Plan on going EFI as well, need to start researching my stand alone choices there as well.

The interweb is a great thing to an extent, but it sure can make a person over think everything... LOL!!

I know your busy Jay and you had given me a few details on your supercharged setup on the mustang (that was back when I was contemplating going with a turbo setup) but if you get a chance could you refresh me on some of the details of your setup?

Thank you!

FE Technical Forum / Dug out a long lost project....
« on: March 16, 2013, 09:18:18 PM »
That I need to get back on track.  It's a '68 Falcon with a 10 point cage, 2"x3" tube back half tubbed for 12" tire.  Ladder bars and coil overs.  Wanting to get chassis certified for 8.50's. Looking to run an aluminum stroker FE and a manual tranny (Liberty, Gforce, Jerico or ?) and a soft loc clutch.  Still a lot of research to do yet.  Was also having delusions of twin turbos but everything I read says not way to go for a bracket car.  Looking to run in the UMTR.

At the time all that was done I didn't have enough money to do anything to the front end other than run stock suspension.  Now I would like a bit more room to work and header clearance.  I am looking at either going with a M2 front end kit or maybe going to a tube nose and struts.  I am leaning towards the M2 kit as I can do that in house easier.  Would like to hear pros and cons of both.  If I go M2 kit was thinking it would probably be best to go with coil overs?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

FE Technical Forum / Info needed on 390 blocks.
« on: April 01, 2012, 09:26:55 PM »
I'm wanting to pick up a couple 390 blocks to build strokers with.  Have a project coming up that I am wanting to do 445 stroker.  I have a few buddies with salvage yards that I can have on the lookout for blocks coming in.  I'm just not sure what blocks are best for my needs, or how to tell them apart.  Mirror 105 block is talked about a lot.  What years am I looking for, where do I look for markings and so on?  Since I have a few connections in the salvage business thought it would be good to gather a couple extra blocks for future projects or to help out a fellow FE builder.
Thanks!!

FE Technical Forum / How to improve stock auto shifter?
« on: June 27, 2011, 10:17:08 PM »
I am looking for ways to improve (remove the slop) my stock column automatic shifter.  I dont want to put in an aftermarket shifter, due to the overall look of the car.  Jay if I remember right you were shifting the Galaxie with stock column shifter?  My '65 Comet has a good bit of play in the shifter, makes it hard to hit the gears on the track.

Also looking at going thru the tranny and getting a new looser convertor, I had heard others talk about Broaders Performance, I would like to find someone closer to me here in Ohio to save on shipping, but dont know of anyone I would trust.  If not I will get ahold of Broaders and try and get an idea of what its going to cost to ship there and back.

FE Technical Forum / Valve adjustment?
« on: May 10, 2011, 07:26:54 AM »
I am getting ready to adjust the valves on my Pond motor in the Comet.  Just wondering if there is anything different to take in consideration on an aftermarket all Aluminum motor?  I have the cold settings that Robert recommended.  It has Edelbrock heads and Shelby roller rockers.  Need to pop a valve cover off to see what size the adjuster and allen key lock is, was thinking of ordering a tool to do this, figured it would be easier than fumbling around?

Sorry for the newbie question, just alot of money in the motor to use as a learning tool.  Love it and ready to take it to the track again.

Thanks!!

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Happy Easter!!

Hope everyone is having a great day with their familys.  Another day of rain here so everyone is inside having a good time.  Kids are dying to go outside but with 6+ inches of rain in the last couple of weeks, its nothing but mud.
